The northern part of the Sebas Region, being close to the ocean, has relatively cooler temperatures, but not significantly so unless venturing directly into the sea.
As a result, Water-type Pokémon are abundant in the north, while Ice-type Pokémon are rare, primarily residing deep within the frigid waters.
Currently, the coldest area in the Pokemon world is in the Ellie region, known for its icy domain, which hosts the highest concentration of Ice-type Pokémon. Apart from that, the North Sea is considered the next chilliest location.
However, due to the inhospitable conditions for humans and the lack of islands, the North Sea remains largely uninhabited by people, making it a paradise for Water-type and Ice-type Pokémon.
On land, other attribute Pokémon dominate; typically, marine Pokémon do not venture onto land, nor do terrestrial Pokémon enter the oceans.
These two realms coexist without intrusion, yet inexplicably, marine Pokemon have invaded the land this time, disrupting the ecological balance.
Furthermore, the invading Pokemon were ice-types, previously unseen in the area. Since there were only eyewitness accounts and no specific photos, Kalia couldn't ascertain what these ice-type Pokemon looked like.
To understand the situation better, they needed to investigate further. This mission wasn't considered highly dangerous; based on available information, the unidentified ice-type Pokemon were slow-moving and lacked flight capabilities.
In case of danger, Kalia and William could easily escape by riding their Pokemon away.
The primary objective was not to resolve the issue immediately. If it proved too challenging for Kalia's group, they could gather intelligence, still receiving partial compensation, and then pass the task onto other Trainers for completion.
The Sebas Region, while sizable, wasn't enormous compared to Lian's previous world—it was akin to a large island at most.
"We're here."
After flying for quite some time, Kalia and William finally approached the northern part of Sebas. They distinctly felt a significant drop in temperature, especially near coastal areas where hail filled the sky.
It was evident that certain Pokemon were intentionally generating Hail, lowering the surrounding temperatures to create a suitable environment for Ice-type Pokemon.
Such actions would undoubtedly disrupt the existing balance, leading to the demise of many local species.
"I suspect their original habitat has been invaded, prompting them to search for new territories. Something significant must have occurred in the North Sea," Kalia hypothesized. Of course, it was merely speculation; numerous factors could influence Pokemon behavior, making it challenging to determine the exact cause.
Regardless of the reason, restoring the region's original ecosystem became imperative. Allowing unknown Pokemon to invade indiscriminately would have severe consequences.
"Let's investigate first to understand what's happening. We'll descend now; be prepared as the temperature is extremely low down there," William advised cautiously, opting to land before drawing any conclusions.
"Charizard, let's head down."
Shortly after,
Lian touched ground, finding it even colder than the air above. Ahead lay a forest completely blanketed in snow, with a thick layer accumulated on the ground.
Lian himself wasn't bothered by the cold, being a Fire-type. His body radiating fire energy acted like a personal furnace. However, Kalia and William were not immune to the chill.
Quickly, they donned the prepared clothing, aided further by Lian releasing his fire energy, which kept Kalia comfortably warm.
"Your control over Charizard's fire abilities is impressive," William remarked, surprised. Although Talonflame was also Fire-type, it couldn't yet achieve what Lian managed with such ease - diffusing fire energy gently around and maintaining stable temperatures.
"It's alright," Kalia humbly responded, patting Charizard's wing, but a clear smile of pride showed on her face.
"Let's move out." William clearly had more than just one Fire-type Pokémon; they recalled Talonflame and brought forth an Incineroar, the final evolution of a starter Pokémon from the Ellie region.
This Incineroar evidently served as William's primary Pokémon, boasting a tall stature and fierce appearance that would intimidate any stranger at first glance.
Lian guessed that this Incineroar must have trained in martial arts with William, likely possessing exceptional combat strength, although still falling short compared to himself.
Roaaar.
As soon as Incineroar appeared, it sensed Lian's power but didn't back down, immediately letting out a defiant roar, expressing its readiness for battle.
"Little Hu, be calm," William promptly commanded. The Incineroar instantly subdued, losing its aggressive demeanor and obediently returned behind William.
"My apologies, Little Hu usually has a friendly temperament but can be wary around strangers," William explained.
"It's alright," Kalia reassured him and then suggested, "The Incineroar seems eager to battle my Charizard. Shall we have them face off?"
"Once our current task is completed," William nodded slightly. Little Hu only displayed such combat readiness when facing strong opponents, indicating that Charizard would indeed be a formidable match for it.
William never shied away from Pokemon battles; they believed growth comes through competition.
Together, with their Pokemon in tow, they ventured deeper into the forest. They refrained from releasing too many Pokemon at once, as having one primary Pokemon for protection was deemed sufficient.
The forest, typically lush and dense, now lay silent, transformed into a blanket of pristine white, devoid of any other Pokemon traces.
Boom!
As they progressed further, faint sounds resembling battle echoes emerged.
"Let's investigate," Kalia headed towards the noise, suspecting it might be a confrontation between local and invading Pokemon.
Regardless of the situation, Kalia stood firmly on the side of the native forest Pokemon, considering the invaders as enemies.
Therefore, if they encountered these creatures, Kalia and her companion would undoubtedly support the native forest Pokemon against the invading ones.
As they approached, the sounds of battle grew clearer, with both humans and their accompanying Pokemon inching closer to the combat zone.
"Ah, so these are the new ice-type Pokemon," Kalia observed. She spotted a creature resembling a full-bodied rock, its body composed entirely of crystalline ice formations. The back was particularly smooth, almost mirror-like.
These ice-type Pokemon were imposingly large, appearing as massive boulders from afar. On their backs, smaller ice-type Pokemon, presumably in their initial forms, could be seen.
Engaged in fierce combat with these ice-type Pokemon were the original inhabitants of the forest: a group of Forretress.
It must be noted that these Forretress displayed remarkable tenacity; instead of fleeing, they boldly confronted the invaders head-on. The earlier explosions likely resulted from some Forretress using Self-Destruct moves.
However, the Forretress were currently at a disadvantage due to the ice-type Pokemon's astonishing defense. Even self-destruct attacks couldn't significantly harm them. Despite outnumbering the invaders, the Forretress found themselves outmatched.
