Chapter 319 - Chapter 319: Martial Arts Sword Technique

Apart from Forretresses, several Pinecos were also fiercely battling these ice crystal Pokémon. Due to the lack of strong offensive moves for Forretresses, they appeared somewhat overwhelmed.

Many Forretresses had already fallen on the ground, rendered incapacitated after using their Self-Destruct move. The remaining ones continued to relentlessly employ this tactic.

"Let's help the Forretresses," Kalia urged impatiently. Regardless of the reason behind these invading Pokémon, they were truly despicable. Just like humans, Pokémon can be good or evil; some simply do not deserve sympathy.

"These Pokémon are no match for me, leave them to me." William glanced ahead at the five Avaluggs, completely disregarding the smaller Pokémon perched on their backs.

As a mid-level Trainer, weak wild Pokémon pose little combat challenge and can often be ignored unless overwhelming numbers come into play. Otherwise, even more of them just serve as easy prey.

Kalia understood this well; during their previous encounter with countless Dark Guild Pokémon, Charizard effortlessly resolved the situation with a single Fire Blast, leaving no room for any other Pokémon to contribute significantly.

Once the power gap becomes significant, lower-tier Pokémon have almost no chance against higher-tier ones and will be effortlessly overwhelmed.

"Incineroar, charge!" William shouted, swiftly following Incineroar's lead.

Shing!

At that moment, William drew a silver longsword from his waist, gripping it firmly with both hands, determination evident in his eyes.

He then charged towards one of the Avaluggs, seemingly ready to engage in battle himself.

Kalia was startled. Wait, is William planning to fight directly? That's incredibly dangerous.

Human physical capabilities are limited; they cannot compete with Pokémon. Even the slightest residual impact from their moves could result in severe injuries.

"William, this is too risky!" Kalia felt compelled to warn him. It wasn't a joke; being hit by a move could at best leave him seriously injured.

"Don't worry," William responded without turning back, his grip on the heavy-looking longsword firm.

Meanwhile, Incineroar had already initiated its attack without needing William's command, charging aggressively towards the Avalugg ahead.

Roar!

With a furious bellow, as both a Fire and Dark-type, Incineroar possessed the hidden Ability Intimidate, clearly evident in this instance.

The roar instilled deep fear within the opposing Avalugg, momentarily freezing it before regaining composure.

Incineroar excelled in offensive moves, while these unfamiliar ice-type Pokémon seemed to have remarkable defensive capabilities. This concerned Kalia, as even Forretress' powerful Self-Destruct hadn't significantly harmed them.

Since William insisted on handling the situation himself, Kalia refrained from intervening; however, she was prepared to assist with her Charizard if any danger arose.

Incineroar extended its sharp tiger claws, igniting them with intense flames. The blazing claws, akin to razor-sharp blades, fiercely swiped at the Avalugg's body.

"Is that... Flame Claw?"

From afar, Lian observed with slight surprise. There seemed to be no move called Flame Claw; only Fire Punch existed. However, this Incineroar had clearly transcended the limitations of standard moves and developed its own unique technique tailored to its strengths.

A tiger's most formidable attributes are its teeth and claws. While Fire Fang was powerful, it fell short for Incineroar, and high-caliber claw-based moves were beyond its mastery. Therefore, Incineroar adapted by creating a Fire-type move centered around its claws, marking a significant breakthrough.

Lian himself achieved something similar with his self-created move, Flame Spiral. However, Incineroar's innovation provided him further inspiration.

Customizing moves to one's natural abilities yields the best results. Observing Legendary Pokemon, many possess exclusive moves with astonishing power.

Of course, Lian focuses on Special moves, so Incineroar's self-created attack primarily serves as inspiration. He wouldn't create another offensive move, as Fire Punch is sufficient for now.

Shhhk!

The sharp, flaming claws collided fiercely with Avalugg's hard crystalline body, producing a shower of sparks. Despite the intense impact, all that remained was a shallow mark.

"Remarkable defense! Using standard attack moves is clearly disadvantageous," Kalia observed instantly. Against these Pokemon, relying on conventional attacks would not suffice.

Their icy crystalline bodies were as sturdy as unyielding rock; only Special moves could effectively counter them.

However, neither Incineroar nor William altered their combat strategies, and William promptly engaged in battle.

Facing the towering Avalugg, William was completely overshadowed by its bulk, feeling a palpable sense of pressure.

Undeterred, William remained unfazed and didn't rush to attack, instead waiting for Avalugg's move.

Avalugg wasn't one to passively stand by; while it wouldn't initiate an attack if the Trainer stayed out of sight, having someone right before its eyes was intolerable to any Pokemon.

Without delay, the massive Avalugg charged towards William, opening its icy maw wide for a biting strike.

The frigid chill emanating from Avalugg's teeth spread through the air, targeting William. For an ordinary individual, merely being exposed to this coldness would freeze their limbs, leaving them helpless against impending doom.

However, William swiftly reacted, swinging his silver longsword forward, effortlessly splitting the icy chill apart.

With another forceful strike, he chose to confront the Avalugg head-on. The silver sword clashed against the creature's teeth, producing a metallic sound akin to metal collision.

Kalia nearly fainted from fear; it seemed as though William was risking everything. This Avalugg clearly possessed immense power, and confronting it directly with a human body felt like courting death.

To Kalia's surprise, after William's strikes, the silver longsword remained unbroken. Instead, fine cracks appeared on the Avalugg's teeth.

Although just minor fractures, even this demonstrated the astonishing strength of William.

"It's still too challenging."

Unsatisfied, William executed three quick jumps, distancing himself from the Avalugg, and slightly shook his head.

William's prowess was undoubtedly extraordinary. Although the Avalugg only used biting attacks, not direct collisions, managing to fend it off with just a single sword seemed almost miraculous.

Is this what martial arts can achieve? Kalia realized for the first time that humans could be incredibly powerful too. Although they might not surpass formidable Pokemon, just with these martial arts sword techniques, most ordinary Pokemon would likely be no match.

Moreover, the sword itself was extraordinary; any regular weapon would have been crushed instantly by Crunch.
