Chapter 348 - Chapter 348: Tracing Kyogre's Path

At this abrupt change, fishermen who had ventured out from Cyan Town for fishing now felt a growing sense of panic.

It happened too swiftly; just moments ago, they were happily discussing their expectations of returning with a bountiful catch. Suddenly, the sky darkened, and the once calm sea began to churn, creating rising waves.

"Something's not right. Let's head back quickly," shouted an older fisherman. Immediately, everyone abandoned their fishing efforts and sprang into action, attempting to turn the large sailboat towards Cyan Town.

However, turning back was easier said than done; it required time. As the waves surged and gales intensified, although rain hadn't yet started, the ominous black clouds overhead indicated that a torrential downpour could strike at any moment, making the situation even more dire.

Some already sensed something deeply unsettling about this sudden shift - the unknown is always the most frightening.

Boom!

A flash of light illuminated the sky, followed by a deafening thunderclap, making the surroundings even darker, resembling nighttime.

Swish!

The torrential rain finally arrived, pouring down relentlessly onto the ocean surface and striking the deck with dull thuds, creating a frantic symphony.

With the onset of the storm, their fate was sealed. Despite being experienced fishermen, facing this sudden hurricane amidst nature's merciless fury, human resilience seemed incredibly fragile.

Giant waves battered the sailboat, exerting immense force that tossed it like a ragdoll, leaving no chance for resistance.

As the sound of splintering wood echoed, the fishermen's faces turned pale. It was too late; the boat's hull had ruptured, signaling imminent flooding and eventual sinking.

In the vast, endless sea, with towering waves all around, surviving such harsh conditions without external aid and relying solely on one's own strength to reach safety ashore was an impossible feat.

"Quickly, have Pelipper take the children away!"

In this dire situation, their only hope rested on the ship's single Pokemon: a tamed Pelipper. There were several children aboard, and they must not perish.

Amidst tears and sobs, the children climbed into Pelipper's beak, with only their tear-stained faces visible outside. Confused, they couldn't understand why such chaos had suddenly engulfed them.

Pelipper flapped its wings and slowly took flight. While the storm posed a catastrophe for ships, it didn't hinder the Pokemon much. As both a Water- and Flying-type, rainy weather was its favorite condition.

At that moment, Pelipper had one thought: to bring the children safely back to Cyan Town. The fishermen onboard, however, had little chance of survival unless rescued promptly.

Due to favorable conditions earlier, they had ventured farther from Cyan Town than usual. Given the distance, even if help arrived, it would likely be too late.

"Let's keep holding on; there might still be hope," one fisherman offered, trying to console amidst despair. He knew it was futile, but instinctively, people always strive until their final breath.

Above Westsea Town, braving the fierce storm, Caden led seven high-level Trainers towards the depths of the ocean.

These seven high-level Trainers were part of the League's prepared response plan; they would handle emergencies until reinforcements arrived. The League headquarters had already been notified, and additional support was expected to arrive shortly. Besides high-level Trainers, even four Elite Four members and the Champion would be joining them soon.

The seven high-level Trainers were aware of the situation involving Kyogre, and their expressions were solemn, as the current scenario mirrored closely the emergence of Kyogre depicted in films.

Once Kyogre appeared, it would trigger relentless storms for an extended period, causing continuous torrential rain, severe ecological damage, flooding numerous islands and lands, and expanding the ocean's territory relentlessly.

"Fearful indeed! It seems Kyogre has truly awakened—a legendary Pokémon from ancient times!" one of the high-level Trainers lamented. Since childhood, he had always been fascinated by various ancient Pokémon, with Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza being his favorites among the renowned legendary Pokémon from prehistoric times.

However, with Kyogre's possible emergence, even Caden, a high-ranking League Trainer, felt a sense of panic.

"K-Kyogre?" Caden was stunned; he had no prior knowledge of this situation. The League only informed select high-level Trainers to prevent widespread rumors and misinformation.

Realizing that the raging storm was caused by the legendary Pokémon Kyogre left him utterly shocked.

"If Kyogre truly awakens, it will be a catastrophic disaster," another Trainer solemnly stated.

The torrential rain intensified, accompanied by thunderous roars and fierce winds, causing chaos throughout the western sea. Numerous marine Pokémon have already fled the area, seeking refuge in other waters.

Kyogre's territory could not tolerate the presence of other Pokémon, as territorial instincts among creatures are strong.

Simultaneously, Cyan Town and Westsea Town began experiencing some effects, though less severe than those deep within the Westsea. Still, dark clouds gathered, bringing heavy rainfall.

The remaining residents of Westsea Town retreated indoors; most had already left without much attachment, as many were elderly.

Cyan Town, on the other hand, grew increasingly anxious. The distant turmoil indicated significant changes in the Westsea, reminding them of the Sebas League Trainers' warnings.

"Oh no, my son went fishing today!"

"They... might not make it back."

All those who ventured out were family men. Given the situation, it seemed likely that most would not return, tragically lost at sea.

Many women began to weep uncontrollably.

"We should have left earlier!"

Indeed, some had suggested departing beforehand, erring on the side of caution. However, the majority disagreed, and those advocating for leaving lacked conviction.

As a result, everyone stayed stubbornly in Westsea Town, clinging to hope against odds.

Now, it was too late. Their misguided decision may have cost an entire boatload of fishermen their lives, with little chance of survival.

"Regardless, we must leave immediately."

This time, however, the mayor was no longer willing to rely on luck. Something significant was unfolding in Westsea, and staying put could prove dangerous. If a tsunami struck, Cyan Town might cease to exist entirely.

In Westsea,

Deep within the ocean, if observed from high above, one would spot a colossal figure slowly moving, resembling an enormous whale.

Its size dwarfed even the largest known Pokemon species, Wailord. Compared to a Wailord, this creature appeared significantly larger.

It was none other than Kyogre.

As an ancient Pokemon of immeasurable existence, Kyogre stands as one of the world's most formidable entities. Having been the undisputed ruler of the seas for tens of thousands of years, its dominance only grows stronger with time.

Kyogre remained submerged, steadily navigating through the depths. Simultaneously, dark clouds in the sky began to shift gradually, heading towards a specific direction.

That very path led directly to Cyan Town and Westsea Town. Despite its long slumber, Kyogre had not forgotten its purpose: expanding the oceans.
