Chapter 360 - Chapter 360: Crisis Looms

Lian swiftly flew towards the West Sea at maximum speed, unleashing his full potential. In that instant, he achieved a speed ability value of over 7,000.

Such velocity far exceeded that of ordinary Pokemon, even surpassing those using Extreme Speed moves.

"Wow, incredible burst of speed! Is that Extreme Speed?"

The loud sonic boom startled many spectators, causing numerous Trainers to look up and witness Lian's explosive acceleration as he shot forward instantly.

"No, it's not Extreme Speed." Taro shook his head. His Dragonite had mastered Extreme Speed, so he was well-versed in its effects. The Charizard did not use Extreme Speed; it could either be an unknown move or a unique speed-enhancing technique.

Regardless, Taro was astonished, as the burst of speed just witnessed surpassed even his Dragonite's Extreme Speed performance.

This seemed quite unusual. If his memory served him correctly, Charizards typically lacked such explosive speed moves. Agility, for instance, increased overall speed but wasn't designed for sudden bursts.

Achieving such a burst of speed, breaking through the sound barrier instantaneously, is incredibly difficult.

"If I'm not mistaken, that should be Kalia's Charizard," Taro recalled with some familiarity. Primarily, it stood out due to its larger size compared to typical Charizards, and since few Trainers specialize in Charizards, it was easily recognizable.

In all his years as a Trainer, Taro had rarely encountered a superior Charizard like this one. Based solely on its explosive speed, this Charizard's future potential seemed promising.

Kalia, currently just a mid-level Trainer, already possessing a Charizard at this caliber, is indeed quite uncommon.

"Quite an impressive Charizard," Botaya remarked with a slight smile but didn't give it much attention, considering it merely a fast Charizard.

Other Trainers also expressed their awe briefly but didn't dwell on it, assuming it belonged to some high-level Trainer.

Not everyone closely follows other Trainers' Pokemon; with so many Trainers in the Sebas region, there simply isn't time for such scrutiny.

Lian maintained top speed throughout his flight, resembling a launched missile slicing through the rain curtain, heading straight for the West Sea.

Meanwhile, within Cyan Town's vicinity, the situation for Trainers from the Ellie region was rapidly deteriorating.

Some mid-level trainers had already descended onto the islands, which were now mostly submerged due to prolonged rainfall and frequent tsunamis caused by Kyogre.

The group of trainers felt helpless; those with Water-type Pokémon had dispatched their creatures for rescue efforts, but unfortunately, they acted too late.

By this time, many trainers had been stranded at sea for quite some duration, and even their cries for help were fading away. Some may have succumbed to the devastating light strikes, losing their lives.

This disaster would undoubtedly result in significant losses for the Ellie region, depending on how many could be rescued in the end.

In the vast ocean, a scarred Charizard circled persistently above the water surface. Its Trainer had tragically fallen victim to the pale blue light, plunging into the sea below.

The Charizard was frantic, uninjured itself, but enduring immense discomfort under the relentless downpour. The once-vigorous flame on its tail had diminished to a small flicker amidst the torrential rain.

In such unfavorable conditions, being hit by Kyogre's Origin Pulse would essentially render any Pokémon combat ineffective and lead to falling into the sea.

For an incapacitated and unconscious Charizard plunging into the ocean, there was only one inevitable outcome: its tail flame would extinguish completely, resulting in certain death.

Lost amidst the vast sea, the Charizard relentlessly searched for its Trainer but couldn't find them.

"Chaaar..."

Suddenly, a faint cry for help echoed from the water below. The mid-level Trainer from the Ellie region was desperately shouting while clinging onto Raichu's tail, barely floating on the surface.

With waves crashing around them, both Raichu and the Trainer were at constant risk of being overwhelmed by the surging waters.

"Chaaar" is what the Trainer affectionately called their Charizard. Upon hearing this, the Charizard's eyes lit up, swiftly heading towards the source of the call.

Whoosh!

A bluish-white beam shot forth, but with a flawless aerial flip, the Charizard evaded the attack and continued flying towards the sea.

"Raichu, head over quickly."

Seeing the approaching Charizard brought hope to the Trainer. He instructed Raichu to swim towards it. Thankfully, he had managed to release Raichu just in time; otherwise, even divine intervention might not have saved him.

Many mid-level trainers now regretted their actions immensely; however, some had no chance to repent as they were instantly swallowed by the waves and forever lost in the deep sea.

A few fortunate Trainers managed to escape when the Pokemon inside their Poké Balls broke free, rescuing them from drowning until help arrived.

In reality, most Trainers were struck by the bluish-white beams, resulting in their demise. The survivors owed their lives to their Pokemon, who actively freed themselves from the Poké Balls and helped bring their Trainers back to the surface.

Kyogre remained enraged, even after regaining its composure. It was unwilling to spare the humans before it.

Throughout countless years, this wasn't Kyogre's first awakening-it had awoken numerous times. Each time, human presence accompanied its emergence. While it held no fondness for humans, neither did it seek confrontation willingly.

Unfortunately, humans consistently provoked it, hindering its efforts to expand the oceans. Kyogre deeply despised humans, although this current group was not directly responsible for past grievances. Nevertheless, in Kyogre's eyes, all humans were the same.

Kyogre observed the Pokemon and Trainers in the sky; its Origin Pulse had concluded, requiring energy replenishment. It couldn't continuously maintain such a wide-scale move.

In the next moment, a white beam was unleashed—an Ice Beam. Although Kyogre excelled in Water-type moves, it was also highly proficient in Ice-type attacks, with less energy consumption.

Boom!

"Ahh!"

The freezing Ice Beam instantly struck a Pokemon and its Trainer, transforming them into solid ice blocks. The Trainer managed only a brief cry before being frozen alongside their Pokemon and plummeting into the sea.

"Damn!" Timon witnessed the Trainer hit by the Ice Beam, turning into an icy tomb with little hope of survival.

Unlike Pokemon, humans directly frozen like this were almost certain to perish, especially falling into the ocean where a single wave could seal their fate.

Despite his best efforts at rescue, this unfortunate incident would likely result in severe consequences for Timon, potentially even costing him his position as Champion.

Just then, Kyogre prepared its second Ice Beam, focusing on a flying Charizard overhead.
