Lian remained unaware of the external discussions, and even if he knew, he wouldn't have cared. In the progression of the Pokemon world, the emergence of Mega Evolution was inevitable. Charizard indeed had a third evolution stage, not just one but two forms: Charizard X and Y.

However, mastering Mega Evolution wasn't accessible to any random Trainer; it required sufficient bond points between the Trainer and their Pokemon. Only with a deep enough connection could a Pokemon undergo Mega Evolution.

Furthermore, Lian recalled that only around forty specific Pokemon species were capable of Mega Evolution. This inherently limited its widespread adoption among all Trainers. Likely, only mid-to-high-level Trainers could harness Mega Evolution, and even then, only a select few within that group would master it due to the stringent requirement of bond points alone.

Not every Trainer develops strong emotional bonds with their Pokemon; some merely treat them as tools, and there are many such Trainers. Consequently, these individuals will never achieve a profound connection with their Pokemon, making Mega Evolution unattainable for them.

At present, Lian and Kalia were at Professor Evergreen's research institute. After Kalia brought Celebi for treatment, once fully recovered, they bid farewell.

As Kalia took Celebi for treatment, countless people observed them closely, making them the center of attention. Some even requested to take photos with Celebi.

Naturally, Kalia declined all requests. Eventually, under Lian's assertive presence, the crowd dispersed, allowing Celebi to enter the Pokémon Center for healing.

Afterward, Celebi bid farewell to Lian and promptly departed through time travel.

Kalia had arrived at the Pokemon Professor's research institute, undoubtedly connected to Lian's Mega Evolution breakthrough. Although Professor Evergreen himself was immersed in his studies and rarely followed news videos, it didn't mean other researchers at the institute weren't aware.

Soon after Charizard's video surfaced, Professor Evergreen learned about it from his colleagues, immediately recognizing its significance due to spotting Kalia in the footage.

Initially, when he handed over the elemental glass bead to Kalia, he held no expectations. Yet surprisingly, it led to a transformation in Charizard.

In recent times, Professor Evergreen's stress levels had skyrocketed, as his research on Mega Evolution hit a massive bottleneck, unable to uncover any critical advancements.

Professor Evergreen sensed this as a turning point. By finding Kalia and understanding the process of Charizard's transformation, he believed they could uncover the crucial breakthrough needed.

Just as Professor Evergreen was about to contact Kalia, she arrived on her own initiative - primarily due to the Mega Stone issue and secondarily regarding access to the Dream World.

"Kalia, you're here," said Professor Evergreen, visibly excited. He knew that the video online showed no signs of manipulation; the change in Charizard was genuine, and it belonged to none other than Kalia herself.

"Professor, you've heard about it?" Kalia observed Professor Evergreen's enthusiasm and guessed that he must have been informed. It wasn't surprising, considering the large crowd present during the battle, even if most were ordinary spectators likely recording the event.

"Yes, do you think it was caused by the glass bead I gave you?" Professor Evergreen nodded, eager for clarification. This aspect was critical; if not attributable to the glass bead, their pursuit would be futile.

"That's right." Kalia retrieved the Mega Stone, which had ceased glowing at that moment. She explained, "Out of nowhere, it started emitting light, and then my Charizard flew over, took it, and subsequently underwent the transformation."

"Then..."

Kalia recounted the battle, providing all the details she observed, including the shattering of the Z-crystal, which she discovered afterward.

"I see." As Professor Evergreen listened to Kalia's account, his eyes sparkled increasingly brighter, revealing a look of sudden realization.

Being the discoverer of Mega Evolution power, he naturally had a deeper understanding than Kalia. However, he had been unable to find a way to utilize elemental combinations and activate the latent potential within Pokemon bodies.

Unexpectedly, Kalia's Charizard inadvertently triggered this hidden power. The outcome clearly demonstrated that once activated, Charizard underwent a transformation akin to another evolution, gaining significantly enhanced abilities, overpowering even the Pokemon of three high-level Trainers.

This successful instance of activating latent power was crucial for Professor Evergreen, enabling him to quickly determine why Charizard could harness such energy.

First and foremost, it required the correct elemental combination, not for the Trainer but specifically for the Pokemon to possess. This fact, Professor Evergreen already knew well.

Next, the Trainer also needed to possess an item; based on the sudden shattering of the Z-crystal, Professor Evergreen deduced it must be something capable of resonating with the energy.

This is how Z-Moves work: The purpose of the Z-crystal is to generate resonance and carry that resonance forward.

However, since the Z-crystal shattered, clearly unable to withstand the power, this indicated that the newfound force was immensely stronger than Z-power. It also suggested that Z-crystals were unsuitable for carrying such intense resonance.

Lastly, resonance had to be achieved, but unlike Z-Moves which rely on energy resonance, through training, Trainers could quickly unleash Z-Moves.

For this new force, based on his observations, Professor Evergreen concluded that it likely required emotional resonance between the Trainer and their Pokemon. This is because the power originated from within the Pokemon itself, not externally sourced.

Thus, unlocking the hidden potential within a Pokemon's body became crucial, and achieving emotional resonance between Trainer and Pokemon was key. Other items merely served as aids.

If someday Trainers could effortlessly master this emotional resonance, even without elemental catalysts, they would enable their Pokemon to easily tap into their latent powers.

"I understand now."

Professor Evergreen now understood where his research had gone wrong; he always assumed this power required energy resonance, but no one anticipated it to be emotional resonance.

Emotional resonance is incredibly complex, as Pokemon have simple minds and can easily form deep friendships. Conversely, human emotions are intricate, making pure connections with Pokemon less straightforward.

Achieving emotional resonance demands profound emotional bonds from both parties, which few individuals can truly attain.

"I'll continue my research now," Professor Evergreen said. "Today, I aim to identify objects capable of carrying this resonance. When the time comes, I hope you can assist me in conducting experiments." He had already begun studying potential carriers for resonance, but being stuck on understanding resonance itself, his progress was limited.

However, he knew that the carrier must contain elements found within Meteorite Shards, which do not dissipate easily. With Kalia's cooperation in experiments, he could determine the most suitable carrier material.

"Sure, I'd be happy to help," Kalia eagerly agreed. The opportunity to collaborate with the Professor in experimentation was something she welcomed wholeheartedly. This chance encounter opened doors, yet fully comprehending this transformative power akin to evolution would be crucial for Charizard's continued growth.
