"Do you wish to be reborn?" The woman's voice asked with a sad tone.
"What's the point?" Chase asked after a few moments of silence.
He was lying in a small pond of blood. The sky a pitch black void above, with the distant horizon slowly closing in.
Chase was within his soul's internal world.
He had lost.
And not only that.
But Unity had lost.
The devil did not respond.
"It was inevitable anyway... I mean think about it! Luna got me and my friends killed!
No... That isn't right... You're right! Haha! I got them killed!" He slammed his fist into the pond of blood, slowly draining of its essence.
"Who are you talking to?" The female devil asked, her figure appearing before him.
She had bright pink horns that stretched upwards about a foot; however, one had been shattered at its middle.
She was beautiful, yet terrifying.
She wore a crimson robe, engraved with several runes along its trims.
She knelt down next to Chase.
"Brother... I understand how you feel. And yet I do not... Because I am not the heir... I do not understand your burden, and neither do you... But I want you to at least know this much..." Her calming voice slowly darkened with dread as Chase lazily stared at the voided sky.
"You are aware that your soul cannot die correct?" She asked, her crimson eyes slowly shutting as she put a hand on Chase's shoulder.
He grimaced, gritting his teeth.
"So what? I just have to fucking suffer for the rest of time!?" He growled back at his older sister.
His soul's body had begun to fade, his hand slowly glistening into a black smoke.
She grimaced at the sight.
"It is the truth... Our mother has made sure of the fact... It is a cruel fate indeed... But I can offer you bliss. It is nowhere near time, and it could possibly corrupt your soul even further... But there is a way..." She slowly said, looking down at Chase's pathetic figure.
"Go ahead! Not like I'm running out of time anyways..." He rolled his eyes.
"You have two options... Be reincarnated sooner than you should be... But I do not recommend it, as your soul has not developed enough yet, so you would never regain the memories of this life-"
"Second option?" He asked with a frown.
"That is, let me take your soul to the underworld... There you can become a free spirit that wonders the lands of death until it is time for you to be reincarnated correctly..."
Chase slammed the blood-pond once more.
"The hell?!"
"Enough!" she cut him off, covering his mouth with her soft hand.
"There is a third way... But it is dangerous, even for us." Her face darkened, and her skin went pale.
"Mhmhm!" He groaned from under he palm.
"Fair enough... It will require you to regenerate your physical body, undoing the damage already done to it. But you would need to learn to control the corruption, and that would require me to directly place your soul into your corpse... It can only be done once... And the downsides... If by probable chance you fail to control the corruption even more a moment... Your soul will be corrupted... And you will gain a fate far worse than death..."
She seemed to be hiding even more, as bad as the options were.
Chase lifted her hand off of her face, frowning deeper as he asked. "What's the actual catch?"
She sighed.
"There is no telling if you could even move your body after its regenerated... It would have to be perfect, all of us, including Luna would need to play their part perfectly..."
He shook his head.
"Who's to say she will?" He was honest, he did not trust his goddess after everything.
"Then you will die again, that time you would not return here..."
"So I lose no matter what?" He replied, looking away from her as his body began to grow ethereal.
"No... I said that it was possible. And I am the Devil of Wisdom... The Demon of Chance... There is a way when I say there is a way."
"So how do I even fight after I'm brought back?" He asked, raising an eyebrow and rushing his words as his body removed itself from the physical plane.
"I don't know... Because there are statistical reasons why you couldn't. The strength... The energy... The raw power needed to bring you back is far more than we have... It would take three or more lesser gods... Just to rebuild your ability to move... Then there is energy... The price is too much..."
They went silent...
Time was passing even slower and slower as Chase's soul began to move on.
He remembered the faces of his friends...
Some of them were still fighting.
And that thought alone...
"I'll do it..."
Was enough...
