I stared at the text pretty much the entire night wondering if Dove got invested enough in Benecio's match that he didn't feel the need to respond, or if he was just ignoring me.Ā
At first I thought he was still with his friends because when I tried to call him later after our birthday dinner for Daniel, he didn't pick up. I gave it an hour or two but when I tried again, it rang for a few times before it went straight to voicemail.Ā
After showering and reading a bedtime story to Bunky with Daniel and Benecio, I tried again and still no response. It was past midnight now and everyone was asleep in the house. A few of my cousins were in guest bedrooms and our aunts and uncles spread throughout the guesthouses.Ā
