The wind rushed past my wings as it carried my body and my soul. The sun bore light onto the ocean below, and a sense of serenity washed over me as I watched and listened to the sound of the ocean.
Like an everlasting heartbeat, I just wanted to keep going on my own path that no one can mark. I felt like I could soar forever in this realm that I had flown into.
My eyes watched the fish swim beneath the waves. It is like watching a whole different world that I can fly across. Above me is an endless sky, while below holds an entirely different world, but ahead of me is an island with orange trees and orange grass.
Freedom was shy, but I was closing in.
The light gray sand seemed to separate the ocean from the orange island. At last, I landed. I had avoided looking at my reflection in the water until I was somewhere I could reward myself.
How will my eyes scan myself? How will my jaw look? Will my face be fierce or null? But mostly, what will be the full image of my glory without being held captive in a small cage or an egg?
I exhaled on the rock where I perched, the cold stone sending chills deep into my bones. Still, I felt nothing; I had arrived where I wanted to be. I suppressed the urge to look at my reflection until I could claim a suitable achievement.
Escaping from my captors, who probably killed my parent and sought to enslave me, was most certainly an accomplishment that required this level of reward.
I crouched down and steadily faced the border that separated sea from shore. My eyes focused down onto the reflective surface that I had been craving for.
My head was pointy but wide, akin to the weapons the soldiers wielded. My 2 horns shot straight up, like spears thrown to pierce the sky. My face had scales that flowed backward down the whole of my body.
My eyes, oh my eyes. A contrast to the gray of my scales, my eyes were rubies. My eyes, brighter than the sun, redder than blood.
It was most certainly worth the wait. Forcing my body to move, still stuck on the glory of my eyes, but I wanted to see my body.
Gray scales that flowed like water to the end of my tail, such detail to them that it could be considered that I am a living artwork. My wigs were tucked into my side, but as I lifted them, I could see the membrane that acted like shade from the sun. My long limbs that touched the stone, at the end of each were pitch black talons that shone like obsidian.
My tail was easily as long as the rest of my body, then some. At the end was what I can only connect to the steel blades of the axes that those soldiers had at their side. Lighter than the gray of my scales, like living steel.
I was the most glorious being.
I was the most glorious being...
Then how dare those filthy humans try to cage me! My chest burned hot the more I thought about their arrogance. I am a living artwork. I am being greater than them. Yet they DARE CAGE ME!
The heat of my chest only fuels my anger against the humans. I'm going to make them wish they never caged me.
"I'LL MAKE THEM PAY FOR TOUCHING A GLORIOUS BEING SUCH AS MYSELF." As I roared my vindication out, flames burst forward, igniting my words.
"I am the chosen king, I am Greed!"
My wrath turned towards the orange foliage; as something deep inside me stirred, an instinct that had been dormant for so long. A hunger.
I unfurled my wings, and within 3 flaps, I took flight towards the trees. I began to soar above, my eyes scanning the underbrush and any openings, my ears open, waiting for a slight sound. I would settle for any prey that I can devour.
My wings flap against the winds as my hunger burned for a kill. No sound came from the dwelling forest, it was like everything animated thing in there laid frozen as I flew. The food chain changed, and they knew it.
A slight snap of a twig caught my attention, within a split second my body turned as I jetted towards the sound. Bursting through the branches I crash into the underbrush, as whatever made that noise jumped.
My head snaps onto a large black thing, smaller than I am but not by much. Its eyes locks onto mine as it stands up onto its 2 legs roaring at me in defense. Attempting to scare me away, clearly not wanting a conflict. But I needed to eat. I charge forward.
The creature was not prepared for a rash and quick encounter like this attempts to swipe one of its paws at my body, but I turn mid dash and use my axe like tail to cleave off a good section of its body while dogding the rash attack.
It roars in pain as it realizes it is already at a disadvantage, it tries to escape through the woods but I was already facing it again as I pounce onto its back.
My claws sink into its back for stability as the creature panicking tries to throw me off, but then quickly turns its head and bites me.
Its jaws clamp down hard onto my left forward leg, my scales doing good work protecting me from most of the damage but not all of it.
My jaw launched towards the vulnerable neck of the creature. My teeth sink into its bone.
It was a fight against power now, would the creature rip my leg off before I could snap its neck, or would I snap its neck first.
My jaw began to turn right then left, then right then left. Trying desperately to end this creature.
My jaws on its neck and the angel gave the creature no leverage besides just biting down to injure me.
It was a quick snap, my jaws jerked right one last time as the animal went limp the jaws around my leg went loose.
Triumph filled me before pain, and it dulled the pain anyways. I kicked off the creature and land on the ground. Assessing my injuries I had endured on my leg, there was only minimal bleeding due to the protective qualities of my scales.
My attention then shifted to the animal that now laid dead, I approached. Each step seemed to echo throughout the forest. Then silence as I began to feast.
Blood, flesh and fur entered my mouth, all delicious. I ripped apart the stomach of the carcass and pulled apart meat. My snout painted red as I continued to eat. Every bite that I digested make me feel stronger.
Time became null once more as I ate. Only when I finished eating the entire left side of the creature did I feel satisfied.
Then, only then, did I realize it was becoming darker, the sun laying down to sleep. I turned away from my meal and began to strut into the forest looking for a suitable resting place.
