"So…." an awkward silence stretched over them and again shame pools into Flower and turns her face a light shade of red.
" We don't know how it happened."
"What?" Flower asks surprised. He stares at her and looks annoyed but it somehow still doesn't make him any less scary. Then out of thin air, the man straightens as if remembering who he is talking to and what he is giving away. Flower resists the urge to smile and thinks about how he'd almost lost his guard with her and let some information slip from him. People often don't watch what they say around people they think will have no power, especially a young girl like Flower. And they are extremely right. Because even if they do give her a valuable piece of information it could only help her understand, not escape or do anything with it.
"First, tell me what you know. Then we will discuss how much you will be told." Flower hesitates but she knows she is not in a spot to bargain. However, Flower feels like a trapped animal being used and she can't stand it. She wants to know what it going on. Now with the opportunity to get a few answers, hundreds of questions swim in her head. Did they adopt her? Why? Who are they? What are they planning? How did they make her lose control of her own body? How far is their reach and what can they change with money alone, power and influence unincluded?" She has to find out, so she speaks the truth as much as she can.
"I will tell you what I know but you have to promise me you'll say something in return." Flower says. Aaron laughs again.
"Please" Flower says desperately. Though he tries hard to hide it, Flower can tell it got to him. Even if in the slightest bit. Aaron stops laughing and glares at her.
"Am I going to wait all day. I am a man of my words now hurry up and inform me of what you know." Aaron's voice again scares Flower but it would just be dumb to give away the little she knew so they can use it against her.
"How can I trust you?"
"I thought you were smart enough to not do a foolish thing like that, but apparently not."
"I mean how do I know you won't use it against me." He raises an eyebrow with a smirk.
"I will." Then his face is cold again.
"But I know you want to get your hands on any information you can. Hurry up before I change my mind."
"I know a couple of things, but not that much. First of all I know who you are and your status. I'm not sure how far your reach is, but I don't think I want to know."
"Best decision you'll ever make."
"I also know you guys made me fall unconscious mentally but not physically. I don't remember anything of what had happened. I was wondering why you guys did this since it had no purpose." Flower decides not to tell him about her weird 'power' of seeing into the past and she wasn't completely lying about the memory one. The only thing she remembered was Sally's warning and nothing else, which doesn't matter, but she decides to put some truth into her words.
"I don't know who the 'you guys' I'm talking about is. Not yet anyway. Now will you tell me anything?" Aaron takes a deep breath and exhales like he meets little annoying thirteen-year-old girls every day and is tired of them. Thinking back to Xavier and her class, it is probably so.
"We didn't make you mindless."
"What?" Her voice is like a shriek. Aaron visibly holds his anger, and Flower immediately tones it down so as to not find out the consequences. His response comes through a tightened jaw.
"I said we didn't make you go mindless."
"So who was it if not for you? No one else can do such a thing."
"Listen girl, we have tons of enemies that don't want anything to do with us." Rightfully so.
"What does this in any way shape or form have anything to do with me?" Aaron stares up at her. A mix of anger and something else like interest swirl in his eyes.
"You can't hide your attitude to save your life, can you?" Flower's face flushes.
"But you'll still get embarrassed when a few silly girls below you even make the smallest of remarks, and you can't stand up for yourself."
"Below me?"
"In manners, because in anything else you are 20 levels below them." How kind and encouraging.
"Ok, can you please tell me at least the tiniest bit of information that will tell me what is going on sir."
"We are still trying to find out who and how they got control of you. Weren't you supposed to be careful?"
"I didn't know people were on the lookout to kill me. If they are, tell me right now so I won't waste more time being careless."
"You're such a fool. This is The Sheero, if you're helpless, you could go anywhere, and it still won't be safe. Of course you should be on the lookout. These people are looking for anyone they can use without anyone noticing." Flower can't help what comes out of her mouth and she is positive that one day it will get her slaughtered like a pig.
"You seem to know all about what they are looking for." Aaron's eyes narrow and Flower shuts her mouth.
"To go back to what we were talking about, people will want to hurt you no matter what. Multiple other people could have gotten to you and affected you somehow. We will look into it now that you are here and try to narrow down the possibilities until we find out who did it." Flower swallows.
"If you, of all people, see them as a threat, I'm probably going to get murdered."
"If you keep up being this stupid, you just might and it won't be from them."
"Oh…hahahaha.....how funny." Flower tries to ignore the threat and pretend it's a joke. Aaron glares at her and she notices how little emotion shows on his face. She can't tell whether he is joking or being serious right now.
"I'm also wondering about a few other things." "Hmm" comes her only response.
"I have no idea what is going on around me"-Aaron scowls-"but I have a few guesses. Can we go through them? Please" Flower adds the last part quickly. Flower tries her hardest to act unaware and unafraid like she's talking to a normal man in a normal place. Aaron looks expectantly at her and she takes a deep breath sorting in her mind what she'll say and what she'll hide.
