Chapter 388 - Chapter 388 - Dealing with a Second King.

[Chapter Size: 2500 Words.]

Third Person POV

Kovir.

...

...

Madara appeared in the capital of Kovir. It was still possible to see parts of the walls melted by the dragon years ago.

His plan was already in motion. He had been constantly receiving information, having his clones disperse twice to transmit everything they had discovered since the previous night.

To begin with, it was true that there was an agreement with an Elder Vampire. King Esterad Thyssen was desperate because of the threat Madara represented, even after he had been missing for three years. That had been the case ever since he discovered that all of his important documents had been stolen.

King Esterad Thyssen would not be able to claim all the money Nilfgaard had agreed to in those documents, not without having them as proof, since even the Empire had lost the documents. They knew very well who the thief was.

They already knew that Madara had disappeared along with his informants and all the documents, and there was no way to recover them, while Nilfgaard refused to draw up a new agreement.

Even though Kovir was quite wealthy, being unable to claim the money documented in those stolen papers was still a massive blow.

Nilfgaard paid its installments, but not the amount originally agreed upon, instead paying a smaller sum, since it was the perfect opportunity to avoid being forced to lose money to Kovir, especially after they had already lost so much during the First War, when they failed and conquered only Cintra.

Even so, the kingdom still had money and invested a vast amount of gold to convince a creature such as an Elder Vampire, who had arrived in their lands about two and a half years earlier, to work with them.

And Madara had recently learned that he was more than just an Elder Vampire, with only a handful of people in the royal palace aware of it, since the king wanted to keep it as quiet as possible. He was an Elder Vampire who possessed his own vampire clan.

They granted him lands, a castle farther north, and guaranteed that they would not be disturbed. Furthermore, they would even tolerate the massacre of a few villages, as long as it was not on a large scale and preferably took place in other lands, while they enjoyed shelter within Kovir's territory.

Madara certainly felt disgusted when he read those reports after stealing the documents directly from the king's office and extracting some memories within the palace.

Now, however, he needed to investigate the royal vault.

It was something his clones had been unable to do because of the magical protections that had been reinforced over the past few years. The king had also invested in security, hiring numerous sorcerers to protect his most valuable assets above all else. A large number of sorcerers had also arrived in Kovir over the past two years, and the king had made good use of them...

Furthermore, the king had divided his wealth among several vaults spread throughout the kingdom.

The castle vault remained the most important one, and Madara wanted to inspect it. Unfortunately, Madara's clones did not have enough chakra to try to pass through all those magical barriers without being detected.

He had also lost the Hiraishin seal, which they had found beneath the stone floor of the vault. He had hidden that mark well enough that it should never have been discovered, yet they still managed to erase it.

He would have to do it another way. Fortunately for him, he possessed his Sharingan.

He immediately entered the castle unseen, passing by every guard. Not even the three sorcerers managed to detect him.

With his eyes, he could easily perceive the magical barriers, finding gaps within them until he reached the vault itself.

Then he used the power of the Mangekyō Sharingan and its spatial ability to teleport. The next instant, he was already inside.

He found an enormous pile of gold. It was not as large as the last time he had been there, as some of the gold had been removed, but it still represented a fortune.

Madara easily found the place where the most valuable documents were kept. There was the contract signed with the Elder Vampire.

As well as all the records concerning the clan's vampires.

Madara found that interesting. He had never encountered a vampire clan in this world. He knew that one of the witcher schools had been wiped out by a clan of those creatures. To kill dozens of witchers, they truly had to be a considerable threat.

But to Madara Uchiha... They were nothing more than flies. After all, a Higher Vampire was no stronger than an ordinary jōnin-ranked shinobi. Perhaps even some chūnin could deal with them.

And Madara treated elite jōnin as though they were nothing more than insignificant insects in his path.

This would be nothing. A malicious smile appeared on his face.

The first thing he did was empty the entire vault. He took the gold, the documents, everything. He left absolutely nothing behind.

At the same time, he used the Asura Path to transform one of his arms into a mechanical structure, releasing all kinds of bombs throughout the room.

After all, he considered them far more effective than ordinary explosive tags.

And honestly, Madara had always found that particular power of the Rinnegan especially interesting, since it allowed him to create all kinds of combat technology...

He kept placing bombs one after another without detonating them, carefully stacking them together. Once he was finished, he created a detonator and vanished from the room, reappearing on the castle roof.

The news of the King of Redania's death should already be spreading across the entire continent. The sorcerers had certainly already sent messages through their magical telescopes, and the entire political machine was being set into motion.

But what they did not realize was that, besides one king... a second king would die that day.

Madara waited a few seconds before raising the detonator and pressing the button. The next moment, a deafening roar echoed together with the explosion.

The entire castle shook. Part of the walls simply exploded in the deepest section of the fortress. Even the ground in the courtyard began to crack.

The soldiers ran in desperation in every direction. Madara leaped from the roof and quickly entered through another opening in the castle.

King Esterad Thyssen, who had just received the news that Radovid had been killed, was in complete despair after the first explosion.

Madara activated his mechanical Asura Path arm once again and raised his hands. Several missiles began to emerge, and the next instant, they were launched.

Everyone was completely shocked to see those fiery projectiles racing through the air at incredible speed. The explosions destroyed the pillars of the throne room.

The men and women screamed in terror while the sorcerers began raising magical barriers. Dust quickly spread throughout the entire chamber.

The guards tried to protect their king and the prince present in the room. As more and more missiles exploded throughout the hall, Madara stepped into the curtain of smoke, grabbed the king, and teleported away.

The next instant... the king fell to the ground, feeling everything spin around him.

Even though it had lasted only an instant, he landed gasping for breath. He quickly got to his feet, expecting to see more explosions.

But when he looked around... he was in the middle of a forest.

"What...?" He looked around in complete confusion. "How did I end up here?" Just moments ago, he had been in the throne room while the entire castle was being consumed by explosions.

"It's been a long time." A voice came from behind him.

He immediately stood on guard, taking only two seconds to finally understand what was happening.

"No..." he muttered, filled with fear.

"Is that how you greet me? With disbelief? After everything we've been through together, King Esterad Thyssen?" Madara mocked, making the man take a step back.

"I ask that you do not come any closer. You can't do this. I am the King of Kovir!" he said as he backed away from Madara.

"Do you really think we would just stand still after what happened? Remember that meeting? You were the one who bothered me the most when we exposed the truth about your funding of the Nilfgaardian army... So I took all those documents of yours, something you already know. There's no point denying it." Madara paused.

"But it seems you still haven't stopped."

"You can't do this..." the king repeated, feeling that Madara was about to kill him.

With a burst of smoke, Madara made several documents appear in his hand.

He began flipping through them with an amused expression, completely ignoring the king, who continued backing away until his back struck a tree, trying to stay as far away from him as possible.

"I recommend that you don't run. It'll only make my job easier. After all, this forest is full of monsters. And honestly, would you rather die with a blade piercing your body or be devoured by the fangs of monsters?"

Madara continued looking through the papers. "It says here that, besides hiring a vampire clan through an Elder Vampire, you've also been investigating Kaer Morhen. Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and the activities of the Akatsuki organization."

"Well... you're also investigating Nilfgaard, its movements in the war, the Lodge of Sorceresses, Redania's actions... In this last one, there's something interesting..."

He smiled, amused. "Although I've only been paying attention to the things related to me, I can see you were smart enough to give shelter to the sorcerers. You earned a favor and the loyalty of quite a few of them."

"You were also secretly funding the Eternal Fire itself, allowing them to spread even more terror against the sorcerers so they would flee Redania, while you welcomed them with open arms... And because of that, you've already managed to gather around fifteen sorcerers loyal to your country. Clever," Madara admitted.

By financing the terror carried out by the Eternal Fire, he had managed to make many sorcerers see Kovir as a savior the moment they entered the kingdom.

"I did investigate them. But I didn't kill or harm any of your acquaintances," the king said, ignoring the part about his funding of the Eternal Fire and the terror in Redania.

His voice made it clear that he wanted to find a way to survive. But how could he negotiate with Madara? After spending three years preparing for this day, only to be kidnapped and taken to die in some random forest, it all seemed pathetic, because it was obvious that he could die there. All his investments, the barriers, and the vampires had ultimately been useless...

"Well, you didn't harm them because you knew we would return." Madara's tone was unwavering.

"You would have simply waited a little longer, and once you were certain we would never come back... then you would have killed them out of revenge. After all, you wouldn't have let our little prank from years ago, which caused you so much trouble, go so easily, would you?" Madara explained while the man remained silent. It was obvious that Kovir had no room left for negotiation.

"What are you going to do with me? What will happen to my family?" he asked, no longer beating around the bush.

"I'm not going to kill them." Madara answered immediately.

"If you had harmed any of my companions, then certainly not a single member of your family would still be alive. Your bloodline would have ended today."

The man merely sighed, seemingly relieved to hear that.

He already understood what his fate would be, and there was no longer any reason to be afraid. He calmed down, as though he had finally accepted his own end.

"I always knew what you were. A threat to the entire continent ever since that war. If we had known what you were capable of much earlier, I would have gathered all my forces to eliminate you while you were still a child," he said.

Madara merely smiled. "How unfortunate. There's no changing the past. Well... there is, if someone possesses power great enough. But that's not something any of you could ever accomplish. That requires power... and a price to be paid." Madara was telling the truth.

The cooperation between Ciri and the unicorn had cost the creature its own life, while Madara had already been destined to die three hundred years earlier without Ciri's intervention...

The man did not answer immediately.

He simply looked at Madara, trying to maintain the composure with which a king should face death. "Then get it over with," he finally said.

For an intelligent merchant, he accepted his fate the same way a warrior would. "No. You're coming with me." Madara appeared before him before he could do anything.

The next instant, both of them vanished. They arrived somewhere else.

During the teleportation, Madara caused the king to lose consciousness for a few moments. When they reappeared, they were standing before an isolated castle in the middle of a forest, near the mountains in the far north, in the eastern part of the continent.

It was not as close to the Valley of Dragons as it would have been in the Kaedwen region, but it lay in that same direction.

From the documents he had stolen, Madara knew that this was where the entire vampire clan was based.

He decided to have a little fun. Still holding the unconscious king by the collar, his Susano'o began to emerge.

The blue skeleton rapidly grew. First came the ribcage. Then the two skeletal arms. Finally, the enormous horned skull enveloped Madara.

One of the Susano'o's hands was raised. Three small blue tomoe-shaped spheres of energy began spinning rapidly above its bony palm.

They accelerated faster and faster, merging into a single incredibly dense projectile of energy.

Madara raised his hand toward the castle and fired.

The projectile streaked across the sky at tremendous speed. Before it even struck its target, Madara dismissed the Susano'o and vanished from the spot.

The next instant...

A colossal explosion engulfed the castle.

The mass of energy tore through the entire structure, destroying everything in its path before bursting out through the opposite side of the building.

The echo of the explosion caused every vampire to awaken instantly. Screams erupted throughout the castle.

Some had been reduced to masses of blood after being struck by the three circular projectiles, which sliced through everything in their path like enormous shuriken.

On the opposite side of the fortress, stones and walls continued collapsing, leaving behind a massive hole that pierced the entire structure.

Numerous eyes immediately turned toward the forest from which the attack had come.

"Who launched that?"

"We're under attack!"

"Find the enemy!"

The vampires began moving in every direction.

"Let's have a little fun," Madara said. Still holding the unconscious king by the collar, he advanced into the vampires' lair through the massive opening he had created on the opposite side of the castle.
