The word left his mouth in a pained tone as if it physically hurt him to talk but Lyanna was too stunned to register what he had just said.
She knelt frozen,her heart drumming so loudly in her chest that she knew that Kai could hear it. It was strange to think that Kai who had been normal just a few minutes ago was now… different.
Even though he looked scary like he was going to rip her head off her neck,she could still see the pain swirling behind his eyes. His white hair stuck to the side of his face making him look like a fallen angel. It seemed as if he was fighting an invisible force. That gave her the confidence to approach him.
"Kai?" she whispered. "Are you okay?"
He didn't answer.
Instead of running away which any other person in her shoes would do,she crawled towards him slowly and carefully. When she was only a few inches away from him she stopped, raising her trembling hands she reached for his shoulders.
