That night, Kasenhis lay in bed.
It was the first time he had ever suffered from insomnia.
He felt that there were still some things he hadn't done well enough.
For example...
His teaching.
To be completely honest, his classes, in a sense, were not outstanding. Most of the good students he had taught over the past five years had succeeded because of their own innate talent, while a small portion had succeeded because the numbers in the Minecraft mods were simply absurdly overpowered.
As for his teaching...
He had always been busy with one thing or another before, so he hadn't really thought about it. But just now, after pouring himself a glass of whisky, before he'd even finished drinking it, he'd suddenly realised something.
What exactly had he been teaching all these years?
Nothing more than whatever happened to interest him at the time. If he felt interested in Thaumcraft today, then he'd teach Thaumcraft. If he found Create interesting the next day, then he'd teach Create...
Damn...
Kasenhis, Kasenhis, you can't keep going on like this!
He suddenly sat bolt upright in bed.
Then, one second later, lay back down.
"Why the hell am I thinking about this in the middle of the night? Go to sleep, go to sleep!"
...
The next day...
Sitting at the staff table, Kasenhis suddenly spoke, though only Dumbledore beside him could hear.
"I've decided to write a systematic, structured set of books covering all my knowledge."
Beside him, Dumbledore unconsciously put down his knife and fork.
"Please don't say things like that. You're scaring me."
Kasenhis chewed his food and gave Dumbledore a deadpan look.
"What are you imagining now?"
"Well... that's exactly the sort of thing people say right before they die. It sounds as though you don't have long left to live," Dumbledore explained.
"How did you know?"
Kasenhis suddenly looked at Dumbledore in horror.
Dumbledore rolled his eyes helplessly.
"Stop frightening me like that. We all know you're ridiculously hard to kill. After all, nuisances live forever."
Kasenhis continued staring at him with a serious expression.
"... I said, don't scare me," Dumbledore said with a smile.
Kasenhis remained serious.
"... You're joking, aren't you?" Dumbledore slowly let the smile fade from his face and became serious as well.
The smile did not disappear.
It merely transferred to Kasenhis' face.
"That's right. I was messing with you."
"You know, Kasenhis," Dumbledore said helplessly, "sometimes I really do think you're a bit of a bastard."
"Let's just treat it as a little game I played with you first thing in the morning. But I really wasn't joking when I said I wanted to write a systematic series of books. Don't you think my teaching has been far too disorganised?" Kasenhis asked.
"All the subjects at Hogwarts are taught rather haphazardly, especially Defence Against the Dark Arts in the past. Back then, even the textbooks weren't fixed. So relax, and perhaps settle down a little," Dumbledore comforted him.
"Oh... your argument makes no sense. And I still think it's necessary for me to write my own books."
Kasenhis stuffed the last egg into his mouth, wiped his mouth, and left the table.
"Do you think he'll succeed this time?" Grindelwald asked leisurely.
"If it's Kasenhis..." The staff table suddenly erupted into laughter.
Kasenhis, who hadn't yet gone far, turned around helplessly.
"What are you all doing?"
"Laughing at you. Quite obviously, they think your strengths lie in fighting Dark Lords like a real man. That, and teaching students, decorating, and building houses. But they very clearly don't believe that someone too lazy to write lesson plans has the perseverance required to write a book containing all of his knowledge," Snape translated for him.
"And do you think I can succeed?" Kasenhis asked.
Snape lowered his head and continued eating in silence.
"Fine. Just keep eating. Whatever you do, don't say anything. Mm. In my heart, you've merely choked on an egg, not decided that I won't succeed... That's right, just keep eating. Don't you dare explain yourself."
As he spoke, Kasenhis rapidly departed the Great Hall.
Even after he had gone, everyone in the Great Hall could still hear his distant voice echoing from the staircase.
"And not just now—don't explain yourself in the future either, Severus! I knew you believed in me and supported me! OK?!"
At that exact moment...
Snape had genuinely choked on an egg and was currently being rescued by Hagrid using the Heimlich manoeuvre.
...Well...
It was probably a rescue.
Judging by the thunderous applause coming from the Gryffindor table, the rescue had presumably been successful.
Meanwhile, after returning to his office, Kasenhis pulled out a blank notebook from his desk and picked up a quill, preparing to begin writing.
However, he quickly realised that an ordinary book wasn't worthy of containing his incredibly awesome knowledge.
And besides, one book probably wouldn't be enough. Was he supposed to split it into several volumes?
Thus, Kasenhis naturally pulled out a Book and Quill from Minecraft.
In theory, this book could be written in forever. No matter how many millions of pages it contained, it would still remain a thin little volume.
And wasn't that the true definition of style?
With that, he wrote the first word.
...
[Hello........]
Staring at the word "Hello" that had somehow appeared in the book, Kasenhis looked bewildered and slapped himself across the face.
This was an old habit of his.
Whenever he was writing and his brain crashed, or he genuinely had no idea what to write, he would unconsciously scribble all sorts of meaningless things, including but not limited to: "Hello", "Hi", "Bloody hell", "Hiss..." and various other incomprehensible phrases.
But just now, his brain hadn't crashed.
Which left only one possibility...
He...
Had writer's block.
