Chapter 416 - 416: The Draft

Some time later...

Kasenhis wandered aimlessly through the castle.

He had just carefully analysed why he had run into writer's block, and to his surprise, he had actually figured it out.

For example, the knowledge inside Kasenhis' head was simply too varied.

Some of it could be learned by others, such as Thaumic Alchemy and Tinkers' Construct from Create. These were magical systems that functioned perfectly well so long as one relied on the power of "I reckon".

Of course, there were also things that nobody else could use.

For instance, casually summoning Minecraft blocks was a technique unique to Kasenhis. Forget teaching it to others; Kasenhis himself didn't know how it worked.

Or there was Newborn Arcana. Technically speaking, other people could learn to use individual rune matrices. But the people capable of creating rune matrices were already wizards...

And if a wizard wasn't using their own magic and wand but instead had to go through the trouble of using rune matrices...

Well, taking off your trousers to fart would be more convenient.

And those were only the internal factors.

There were external factors too.

For example, some of the knowledge had already been written into papers. Asking Kasenhis to rewrite them all over again? Given how lazy he was, that was probably never happening.

At a time like this, what Kasenhis needed was an assistant to organise all the papers he had ever published...

Actually, before this, Kasenhis had already asked the editorial department of the Alchemy Association.

Unfortunately, they had simply thrown all of his papers into the broad category of "Alchemy", instead of dividing them into subcategories like Thaumic Alchemy, Tinkers' Alchemy, Mechanical Alchemy, and so on.

Last year, they had specially created a subcategory called Kasenhis-Style Alchemy in their journal.

That was the editorial department's final act of kindness.

"Sigh... what a tragedy."

Kasenhis wandered through the countless corridors of Hogwarts.

Of course, he wasn't entirely wandering aimlessly.

His current objective was to find a student willing to become his assistant, and who also had a reasonably good understanding of his knowledge system, to serve as his unfortunate victim...

Just as Kasenhis was searching for such a person, two handsome young men abruptly entered his field of vision.

One was Neville, who had just finished swordsmanship training and was continuously casting Cooling Charms on himself.

The other was Ron, who had fled to sit beside an Iron Golem because he could no longer endure Hermione's endless criticism.

Kasenhis looked at the two boys, who just so happened to have nothing better to do.

And the two boys happened to notice him.

"Neville, Ron, would you like to come to the professor's office? There are some very important matters that require the help of you two!"

Kasenhis smiled warmly.

He looked exactly like Gargamel trying to lure away two innocent Smurfs.

A handsome Gargamel, admittedly.

And so, the pure-hearted pair offered not the slightest resistance and followed Kasenhis to the Alchemy office.

What greeted them there was a mountain of Alchemy journals stacked so high they resembled a small range of hills.

Fortunately, they were all from the Kasenhis section.

Otherwise, in addition to categorising Kasenhis' papers, they would first have had to dig his papers out of the even more overwhelming ocean of Alchemy research.

"Here's the situation. You've both studied under me for so long that you understand my knowledge system. What I need you to do is categorise these papers according to that system. I have an extremely important use for them!"

Kasenhis assigned the task with all the pride of Tom the Cat.

"Professor," Ron asked, with impeccable timing, "is this 'extremely important use' the same thing you mentioned at breakfast? The thing that made the professors laugh so hard they nearly blew the roof off the Great Hall?"

Kasenhis awkwardly rubbed his nose.

"So... what exactly did they say? Um... please pick the nice parts and tell me those."

The two exchanged a glance and thought hard.

"Snape nearly got beaten to death by Hagrid."

"....What happened?" Kasenhis asked, the corner of his mouth twitching.

Logically speaking, although Snape's mouth was hardly clean, Hagrid's incredible lack of sensitivity usually meant he didn't understand Snape's sarcasm in the first place. And even if he did understand it, the chances of Hagrid actually beating Snape were not particularly high...

"Did they decide to have a real man's fistfight without using wands?" Kasenhis asked.

"Um, no. Although that would've been even better. Snape choked on an egg during breakfast," Neville explained.

"I see. Then I wish him a speedy recovery."

Kasenhis helplessly wiped the sweat-drop emoji from his forehead before composing himself.

"My plan is to compile all of my knowledge into a structured, graded series of books. Until I succeed, I'd appreciate it if you kept this a secret."

"But Professor, I think you already announced it once at the staff table," Ron once again used his exceptional emotional intelligence to stab Kasenhis where it hurt.

"...That's precisely because they laughed at me and didn't think I'd succeed that I'm asking you two to keep it secret," Kasenhis said, forcefully suppressing his strange sense of embarrassment.

"Alright, Professor. At least I believe you'll succeed. We..." Neville began, before feeling Ron kick him in the shin and immediately changing his wording.

Kasenhis smiled brightly and nodded.

"I believe in you two as well! Keep up the good work!"

After saying that, Kasenhis returned to his little desk.

He had found himself a new activity today.

Hagrid had given him a bottle of vodka last night, and naturally, he had to try a little.

As for the possibility that he might accidentally drink too much today...

The grand and magnificent Book of Kasenhis he had envisioned...

Well, it could wait until tomorrow.

After all, good food wasn't spoiled by waiting.

The same was true of good books.

...

"What a pity."

Kasenhis sighed as he looked at the papers that Ron and Neville had already sorted into categories.

And why did he sigh?

Because he hadn't gotten drunk.

And now that he wasn't drunk, he naturally couldn't pretend to be drunk, go to sleep, and postpone all the work until tomorrow...

That wasn't something an honest person should do... That would betray the readers' trust!
