Chapter 488 - 488: Pass it on! The new minister likes mummies!

"So what next? How are we supposed to use these two things to find the Horcruxes?" Sirius asked as he walked over.

Kasenhis put on his monocle and looked over the two Voldemorts, raising an eyebrow.

Their entries were completely normal. There was nothing extra that looked remotely like a Horcrux-related attribute.

Clearly, these two Voldemorts were probably something similar to external incarnations.

The Horcruxes had likely only been used to grant these two Voldemorts will and the ability to think independently.

The Horcruxes themselves were still hidden with Voldemort, merely remotely controlling these two bodies and keeping them from dissipating or dying.

"So what are we supposed to do now?" Sirius asked.

Dumbledore walked over.

"Let's first see whether we can trace the Horcruxes."

He pulled out his wand and placed it against the top of Voldemort's head.

The next instant, Voldemort let out a horrific scream like a pig being slaughtered.

Dumbledore forcibly used his magic to extract the fragment of soul from inside Voldemort's body.

Seeing this, Kasenhis very considerately pulled out a glass bottle and handed it to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore took it and swiftly sealed Voldemort's soul inside.

When Kasenhis took the glass bottle containing Voldemort's soul, he almost hallucinated that he was holding a Bottle o' Enchanting.

There was no helping it.

They looked far too similar.

It gave him an almost irresistible urge to smash it against the ground.

In the end, though, he managed to hold himself back.

Next came the other, freshly assembled Voldemort.

Another round of pig-like screaming followed.

Bottle o' Enchanting ×2.

"How exactly are we supposed to use these things to track the Horcruxes?" Kasenhis asked, looking at the two Bottles o' Enchanting in front of him.

No.

The two Voldemort bottles.

"Obviously with Mickey Mouse Mystery Alchemy. What else would we use, magic?" Dumbledore said.

"???"

Kasenhis stared at him in complete confusion.

Seeing this, Grindelwald explained.

"To put it simply, there is a concept in magic that says the you from one second ago and the you from one second later are two entirely different versions of you. The same applies to the soul."

"The soul from one second ago and the soul from one second later might both historically be called Kasenhis, or Voldemort, but because they exist at different points on the timeline, they are two separate individuals."

"Horcrux souls are different. The moment a Horcrux soul is separated from the main soul, you could say that time stops for that soul."

"From that instant onward, that soul remains eternally fixed at that point in time. So using a Horcrux soul to search backward for the location of the Horcrux is possible."

Sirius raised his hand.

"Then can't we just use these soul fragments to find Voldemort's real body?"

"So you didn't listen to a single thing I just said, did you?" Grindelwald asked helplessly.

"Uh... what do you mean?" Sirius asked.

Kasenhis spoke up.

"It means the souls we have here."

He pointed at the Voldemort bottles in front of them, then spread his hands.

"And the Voldemort hiding Merlin-knows-where are completely different souls because they exist on different timelines."

Sirius nodded and sighed helplessly.

"That's a shame."

Kasenhis suddenly realised something else.

"Wait. What you were talking about just now wasn't tracking. It was searching..."

He looked at them.

"Am I supposed to understand this as you wanting me to brute-force it?"

Grindelwald shrugged.

"That's exactly what I mean. It may be a stupid method, but I have to admit that right now, it's the only method that's both accurate and useful."

"You people seriously don't have a better way?"

Kasenhis turned toward Dumbledore and Mordred.

Dumbledore shook his head.

"If the Horcruxes were living beings, then of course I could track them. But they aren't."

Mordred, on the other hand, merely shrugged.

"No way around it. Besides, I've already packed my things. I'm heading to Antarctica."

With that, he vanished from the spot.

There wasn't even a special effect.

When it came to spatial magic, he was clearly an absolute authority.

"Why's he in such a hurry to go to Antarctica? What's even fun about that place?" Sirius complained.

"Maybe he likes building snowmen. Just kidding. It could be something serious."

Kasenhis awkwardly changed his tune halfway through because, at some point, Mordred had reappeared in the sitting room, picked up an apple from the coffee table, and then disappeared again.

...

In the end, Kasenhis claimed a corner on the ground floor of Black's old house and began researching how to use brute-force enumeration to locate Voldemort's two Horcruxes.

The good news was that he had more or less figured out the general approach.

But before that, he needed to go to the Ministry and ask for the technology they used to monitor all magic throughout England.

He could build something similar himself, of course.

But there was no point.

If a ready-made version already existed, why bother developing one from scratch?

And so, for the first time ever, Kasenhis arrived at the Ministry in an unusually proper and formal manner.

Application forms, visitor pass, appointment, stated purpose...

He was only missing a gift for Barty Crouch.

Oh...

"That reminds me. I actually do have a gift I can bring Barty Crouch."

The moment that thought occurred to him, Kasenhis Ender Blinked back to Black's old house, picked up Barty Crouch Jr. from the corner, covered his face, then returned to the Ministry and got back in line.

Sitting in front of him was a witch who looked to be in her thirties or forties.

She had a thick stack of documents in her arms, apparently waiting for some kind of approval.

In fact, most of the wizards queuing here looked more or less like that.

Kasenhis, however, did not.

He sat there with a pitch-black mummy coffin standing upright in front of him.

At least, that was what it looked like to everyone else.

"So... the new Minister likes mummies?"

An elderly wizard who looked over two hundred years old sat down behind Kasenhis and immediately asked.

"I'm not here to bribe him," Kasenhis said awkwardly.

"Of course. Neither am I. It's called a political donation. I understand," the old wizard hurriedly corrected himself.

Kasenhis was about to argue, but then he suddenly realised something.

Giving Barty Crouch Jr. to Barty Crouch Sr. as a gift technically did count as giving him a gift.

And this trip was also meant to freeload the Ministry's technology.

In a certain sense, the word bribery was actually pretty accurate.

"Yeah. I'm here to bribe him," Kasenhis admitted openly.

The witch sitting in front of him turned around in astonishment.

Wait...

PROFESSOR KASEN!!?

Kasenhis was here to bribe someone?

Had Barty Crouch soloed Merlin?

Or had he somehow taken down Dumbledore and Grindelwald two-on-one?

Did that make any sense?
