[Kai's POV]
Multiple humans. Approaching from the northeast, moving fast. Their scent was wrong—too clean, too chemical. The sharp tang of gunpowder clung to them like a second skin.
Hunters.
I raised a hand, signaling my men to stop. They froze instantly—no questions, no hesitation.
"Company," Shin murmured, his voice barely above a breath. "Northeast. At least five."
My eyes narrowed. "Hunters."
Shin nodded once.
Five figures emerged from the deep shadows of the tree line. Their movements were a blur of unnatural speed, and the dull glint of silver badges on their chests.
Werewolf hunters.
"HUNTERS! DEFENSIVE POSITIONS!" I barked, the warning torn from my throat—but it was cut short as the hunters scattered with a practiced, lethal precision that spoke of a well-rehearsed ambush.
