Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Dragon's Hatchling

(Geralt's POV)

I picked up a commission in a nearby village, right on the way to Kaer Morhen. Apparently, there's an abandoned house nearby where a noonfly has taken up residence.

She's one of the most dangerous ghosts, appearing at midday on a hot day. I don't know what caused her appearance, but I hope to find out.

I mounted my horse and galloped in the right direction.

"Move, roach!"

The spot wasn't that far from the village, and within about 10 minutes, the outline of the estate where the noonfly had supposedly been spotted appeared.

I dismounted and entered the estate's courtyard; it didn't look too battered by time.

The first thing I noticed was how eerily quiet it was; there weren't a single bird, animal, or insect in sight.

Something was wrong here, and the strangest thing was that there was a basket by the threshold, completely out of place, just too odd compared to the rest of the place. Plus, it emanated a terrible feeling that made me shudder.

I wanted to approach the basket, but I couldn't, as a noonwraith appeared in front of me and immediately attacked. I dodged, drawing my silver sword.

"Damn!" I dodged again. I used Yrden, striking her in the back, but she continued to attack me.

I repeatedly attacked her with Yrden, but she continued to attack me furiously, as if she were protecting something, and I already had a premonition of what she might be protecting.

Deciding to finish her off quickly, I used "Moon Dust," lunged, and wounded her severely, but she didn't give in, and after dodging again, I attacked, which ultimately defeated her.

Having folded my sword behind my back, the moment of truth arrived. I approached the basket and, opening the sheet, saw a little girl. Unlike a normal girl, this one had black horns and pointed ears. She also had crystal-white hair, which hadn't grown much due to her age, and sapphire-colored eyes. She also had a small tail, like a lizard's...

All my witcher senses told me to kill this creature.

But...

She opened her eyes and the first thing she did was smile, taking my finger.

For the first time, I couldn't do anything; my witcher senses were furious, but I couldn't kill her.

Ha.

So there's still some humanity left in me.

Kaer Morhen:

11 years later

(Eli's pov)

I look at myself in the mirror and can't stop admiring it.

I think Triss's mom said something about it being a narcissist, but Yennefer's mom said it's okay to admire beauty.

They almost got into a fight, but my dad broke it up.

Sometimes I don't understand who my dad is with.

I mean, he sleeps with both Triss's mom and Yennefer's mom, but they don't know it, or at least they guess.

If I ever have a girlfriend, I won't be like my dad, I guess...

I nodded silently and returned my attention to the mirror.

Today is a normal day like any other, which means sword training with Ciri.

Ciri is my best friend. Geralt brought her over once, and ever since she's at Kaer Morhen, we always have fun.

I also like to hit her with my tail... I don't do it too hard, but it angers her, after which she tries to catch me, or rather, my tail, which, by all rights, has a life of its own...

I'm wearing training clothes, consisting of pants with a cutout for my tail and a shirt. You could say I'm dressed rather boyishly, as Yennefer's mom says. She and Triss's mom really like to dress me up in all sorts of dresses, which I didn't really like, but I couldn't argue with them because they wouldn't listen.

That's the only thing they agreed on. And whenever they appear at the door of the room together, I immediately jump out the window onto the ledge and try to escape, but they always manage to catch me.

Because they use magic.

Of course, I don't try too hard because I don't want to dissolve them.

They're both beautiful women. Yennefer's mother has the same eyes as me, combined with her white hair. I look like Geralt and Yennefer's biological daughter, except for my pointy ears, of course.

But Triss is just as beautiful; she has red hair, which I like, and cute freckles.

BUT!

I see my mothers in them, nothing more.

But I certainly hope that my father sorts out their relationship or he'll be left with nothing.

I also have horns, in addition to my pointy ears. I also have a cool dragon tail, and there are some areas of my body where there are scales instead of skin. I've heard people call me an abomination many times, and it makes me sad; I didn't choose to be born like this. And I don't hate my horns and ears, much less my tail, which Ciri finds cute, but at the same time considers it her greatest enemy. And what's strange is that I really get the impression it has a life of its own, and its purpose in life is to provoke Ciri.

Usually, when I'm insulted, Triss's mom and Yennefer's mom turn into furious mothers, and let's just say that the ones they're angering are the ones who suffered.

Also, I recently started my period, which at first shocked me, but Yennefer's mom explained what it means and said I could have a child with my future boyfriend.

But...

That won't happen. I've known I like girls for two years now, I just haven't told anyone. But I think I should tell my moms to avoid any misunderstandings.

Well, that's not entirely true. One person knows I like girls, Uncle Vesemir.

Once, when I went to the village with my father, I found a drawing of a naked girl in a lake at a tavern. I hid it and took it with me.

And of course, when we returned, I went to my room, locked myself in, and looked at the drawing. It gave me a strange feeling all over.

Uncle Vesemir discovered it by accident when it fell out. He picked it up, looked at it, and then laughed, saying,

"You're just like Gerald." I asked him to keep it a secret; I wanted to tell everyone when I was ready.

He agreed, but he hoped I wouldn't be like my father when it came to girls.

I also have Uncles Lambert and Eskel, who teach me everything too. I'm glad I have such a large, albeit strange, family.

I heard a knock on the door, followed by it opening.

Yennefer's mother stood in the doorway and caught me staring at myself in the mirror.

"Ugh, my daughter can't stop admiring herself? Your future boyfriend will be lucky to have you." my mother said.

Yes, I hope so! But not a boyfriend, a girl!

"Mom, don't talk nonsense!" I said.

"Okay, okay, I came here to tell you that I have to leave, and that Ciri is tired of waiting for you, torturing those poor mannequins." I nodded and replied.

"Come back soon!" I approached and hugged her.

She hugged me back, but I secretly inhaled the scent of her perfume—gooseberry and lilac, my favorite.

Tearing myself away from her, I said.

"Okay, Mom, I'm going, I won't keep Ciri waiting long." I waved to her and headed to the training grounds.

Well, wait for me, my best friend!

(Yennefer's POV)

"I see you're still teasing her?" I heard Triss's voice behind me.

"Well, I like watching her face when she thinks she's safely concealed her attraction to a girl," I replied.

"Yen, you know, she might be offended when she finds out the truth," Triss said...

"The truth? About what exactly? About us knowing for a long time that she likes women, or about you and me being together?" I asked.

"Both." Triss replied dryly.

I simply rolled my eyes, then pulled the red-haired beast in for a kiss, earning a cute squeak from her...

"Yen, I want to talk to you seriously, and you..." Triss began, after the kiss, but I pulled her back to me...

"Triss, I'm more than serious... When the time comes, we'll tell her everything, about knowing her secret and about us." I said, hugging Triss, who simply sighed and then began to inhale.

She really liked my scent...

"Gooseberry and lilac..." she said quietly...

I rolled my eyes again...

Honestly, I don't know how it happened that I'm with Triss now... We used to love the same man, and were ready to fight, but that love faded, just like hers...

And what's rather strange is that we've stopped feeling attracted to men altogether, and only to women. And that incident when we were caring for little Eli changed everything, when Triss kissed me after our girl fell asleep...

Maybe Eli is some kind of lesbian queen? After all, it all happened the year Geralt brought her home...

Well, in any case, I don't regret anything, even if Eli's appearance somehow affected Triss or me...

Although, to be honest, we still haven't figured out what species Eli is, but Triss and I think she's a dragon...

Well, considering her tail, horns, and the scales on her body.

We've also severed all contact with the Sorceresses' Lodge... Knowing them, they would want to use Eli as a tool, which is what they were planning to do with Ciri, but we certainly won't let them do that to the girls!

"In any case, when we tell her the truth, we also need to talk to her about common decency." Triss said, moving away from me.

I just rolled my eyes...

Well, our girl is a little perverted... She often stares at her mothers... But I don't really mind, but we still need to talk to her...

I'm sure this conversation will be awkward...
