Jinhyuk let the platforms go one at a time, walking them back toward the terrace like stepping stones being picked up behind him, until the last one lowered Hyunwoo gently onto the old grey stone and blinked out.
Hyunwoo lay there on his back for a while, the fan held against his chest, just breathing.
Jin came back across the last platform before it vanished and stepped down onto the terrace beside him. His arms were still red, the skin raw and shiny where the heat had come through it, and every time he flexed his fingers it felt like he was closing his hands around hot coals. The warmth of his regeneration was working its way through him slowly. It would take a while.
He held up the Muramasa swords and looked at them. The bright one was just steel again. The dark one had stopped glowing. Neither of them had a mark on it.
He put them away. They slid into his inventory and the weight of them left his hands, and the moment it did, his whole body sagged like a string had been cut.
