Easton Holmes wasn't questioning Ryan Taylor about what he said to Lily Turner. He just wanted to know what they talked about earlier, simply because there's been a significant change in their relationship.
He wanted to have first-hand information to see how he should follow up and how he should make an effort.
However, Ryan Taylor didn't know what Easton Holmes was really thinking. Hearing his good friend ask like that, he thought Lily had told him what he just said, and that his good friend was calling to settle accounts.
"I didn't know it was your wife who answered the phone. If I had known, I definitely wouldn't have said those things." Ryan said, defending himself right away without mentioning what exactly he said just now. He wasn't hiding anything; he was completely honest.
Hearing this, Easton Holmes became even more certain that Ryan Taylor had said something inappropriate earlier and immediately pressed him, "What exactly did you say just now?"
