It's only when they're eating that Easton Holmes realizes Alice Turner wasn't called over by Lily Turner—she came back to her parents' place to see her mom and dad.
"Sis! Where's Thomas? How come he didn't come with you?" It's weird to Lily that Thomas Fisher didn't come with Alice. Her brother-in-law is super clingy with her sister—if he could, he'd stick to her twenty‑four seven.
"He's got a business dinner tonight."
Alice doesn't want the family to overthink it, and she definitely doesn't want them probing and asking questions—especially not in front of Easton. So she decides to hide the fact that Thomas went to see Benjamin Shaw.
No one questions what Alice just said. They all assume Thomas is out schmoozing somewhere, and as for who he's meeting, they don't ask.
"Sis! Have you set a date for the wedding yet?"
"Not yet."
Lily suddenly leans in close to Alice's ear and lowers her voice. "Does Benjamin know you're with Thomas now? He hasn't come bugging you, has he?"
