Meanwhile, back on the coast, Carl was relaxing when his Observation Haki picked up the sounds of Luffy's battle. He smiled, surprised by what he sensed. By combining his Haki with radio waves, Carl could hear every sound within his range, allowing him to eavesdrop on the conversation between Luffy and the pig-headed man. He could even see blurry images of the fight in his mind.
"I didn't expect a 'pig god' to actually exist on this island," Carl muttered to himself. "It looks like his Devil Fruit power is the reason for the strange occurrences here. It's a decent ability, but he's no match for Luffy".
Carl assessed the pig-headed man's strength and decided Luffy was perfectly safe. While using someone like Luffy to handle a local threat felt like overkill, it kept the boy occupied. If Luffy didn't have a distraction, Carl knew he would likely wander into trouble elsewhere. Content, Carl deactivated his Observation Haki.
Just as he settled in to rest, a sudden shift in the atmosphere made him snap his head toward the sky. Massive dark clouds were swirling violently, and a colossal green dragon coiled within them. Lightning arched across the dragon's scales, making the scene look like a legendary beast descending to cause a catastrophe.
Zoro and Sanji immediately dropped what they were doing and looked up, their expressions turning sharp and cautious. Law quickly ran back from a distance to join them, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword.
"Why is Kaido here?" Law asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
"He's looking for trouble, obviously," Zoro replied, his voice laced with excitement. He began to shift into his Three-Sword Style stance. "Teacher Carl got word from Shakky earlier, so this isn't a surprise. He showed up just in time—I've been waiting for a challenge like this!"
Sanji spat out his cigarette and crushed the butt under his heel. He wasn't going to smoke anymore; he needed every bit of focus for what was coming.
Law looked at Carl, who seemed completely indifferent to the Yonko hovering above them. "Carl, why aren't you moving? Don't tell me you expect Zoro and Black-Leg to stop Kaido by themselves. That's insane!".
Carl let out a long yawn. "It's not just the two of them, Law. You're joining in. The three of you are going to fight Kaido".
"You want me to join too?" Law asked, blinking in surprise.
"If you're scared, feel free to hide," Carl said with a shrug.
"Scared? Not a chance!" Law snapped, his pride kicking in. "It's just Kaido. Let's do this!".
Law was no coward, and he quickly realized Carl's intention. This wasn't just a random fight; it was a rare opportunity for the three of them to test their limits against one of the strongest beings in the world. Very few people ever got the chance to trade blows with a Yonko and live to tell the tale.
Zoro, Sanji, and Law took their positions, bracing themselves as Kaido drew closer. The pressure radiating from the dragon was immense, enough to make their bodies tremble instinctively.
"Carl, you b*****d!" Kaido's roar shook the entire island. "I've come to settle the score! Prepare to die!".
The roar was so powerful that the striped pigs in the forest fled in terror. Deep within the island, the pig-headed man broke into a cold sweat. A primal fear gripped his soul, telling him that an invincible force had arrived.
Luffy, still standing across from the pig-headed man, looked up and pouted. "Is that guy Kaido here again? He's so annoying."
The pig-headed man stared at Luffy in shock. He was terrified just hearing the roar, yet this human spoke about the monster in the sky as if he were a nagging neighbor. He realized then that the person standing in front of him might be just as terrifying as the dragon above. He began to back away slowly.
Luffy clenched his fists. "Well, whatever. Teacher Carl can deal with Kaido. I'm going to knock you down first!".
The pig-headed man felt like crying. He finally understood that he had picked a fight with the wrong person.
Back on the shore, Kaido lowered his massive head toward the ground. He kept his mouth shut tight, remembering Carl's habit of throwing Devil Fruits at his enemies. Carl just looked up lazily and yawned again.
"Kaido, aren't you tired of this?" Carl asked. "You're always coming around to cause trouble. I don't have the patience Whitebeard had. If you keep it up, I'll pin you to the ground and feed you to the sea.".
"You arrogant b*****d!" Kaido fumed, smoke billowing from his nostrils.
Carl waved a hand dismissively. "Forget it. You aren't even a challenge for me anymore. Since you're here, I'll let you fight my students first. Now, get moving.".
"You think you can give me orders?" Kaido laughed, looking at Zoro, Sanji, and Law with pure disdain. "I can kill these brats in a single move. If I can't even manage that, I'm no dragon—I'm a worm!".
"You said it, not us," Zoro muttered, a sharp smile crossing his face.
"Don't blame us for being rude then," Law added.
Sanji's voice suddenly rang out right next to Kaido's ear. "Tell me, Teacher Kaido... have you ever been kicked at the speed of lightning?"
Sanji's leg was coated in dense bolts of electricity as he delivered a powerful kick directly to Kaido's skull. The dragon's head was too large to miss, but Kaido didn't even try to dodge. He snorted and swung his head into the attack. The collision sent a pillar of lightning erupting into the air, but when the light faded, there wasn't a single scratch on Kaido's scales.
"You've got to be kidding me! He really is a monster," Sanji yelled, turning into a bolt of lightning to retreat.
Kaido was faster. A massive dragon claw swiped through the air, catching Sanji and slamming him into the shoreline. The impact created a deep crater in the earth. When the smoke cleared, the pit was empty.
Sanji reappeared behind Zoro, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. He looked battered, but his modified physique had kept him from being killed instantly. "As expected of a Yonko. I almost went down in one hit. Luckily, my Armament Haki held up.".
"Hey, cook! Don't go running off on your own," Zoro barked. "That's not being brave—it's being stupid!".
