"They're getting ready to move."
The massive crowd ahead gradually began to stir — it seemed these people were finally preparing to rush in.
Rumble~
Nearly ten thousand experts advanced at once, their momentum shaking the air, a vast and thunderous wave of power.
"Go!"
As countless shouts rang out, numerous figures shot forward one after another, their bodies flashing like streaks of light as they impatiently charged into the dark and silent ancient forest.
Wei Yang and his group watched coldly, not in a hurry to move. They waited for quite a while, and only after the crowd had already entered for some time did they prepare to set off.
Looking at the forest that had grown restless from so many people barging in, Wei Yang rose to his feet and said calmly, "Let's go too."
With that, his figure blurred, transforming into a black shadow that darted swiftly toward the depths of the ancient forest.
Behind him, Xiao Yan and the other four followed closely.
Whoosh!
The moment they entered the ancient forest, the surrounding light instantly dimmed. A thick, pungent smell of decaying leaves and rotting branches filled the air, strong enough to sting the nose.
Wei Yang frowned slightly and instinctively held his breath. His steps paused for a brief moment as he glanced ahead. Not far away, small groups of people could be seen spreading out cautiously, moving slowly forward.
These were the weaker ones, trailing behind the main force, hoping to take advantage of the chaos. Wei Yang shook his head slightly, then tapped his foot on a tree trunk and his figure shot deeper into the forest. Their group wasn't moving slowly.
In less than ten minutes, they had traveled more than ten li.
Along the way, nothing particularly strange happened. Even when a few ferocious beasts appeared, they didn't need to act. The people ahead immediately swarmed and smashed the creatures into pulp within moments.
Although the path had been relatively smooth, Wei Yang's group didn't dare to be careless. They still followed far behind the main force, showing no intention of overtaking them.
Keeping their distance from the large crowd ahead made things easier. With those people acting as the vanguard, probing the way forward, the journey became far more relaxed.
Gradually, they ventured deeper and deeper into the ancient forest.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Several figures flickered through the dim forest.
Hmm?
Wei Yang suddenly paused mid-step.
"There's poison fog forming around us," Xian'er said softly, her beautiful eyes scanning their surroundings. Her sensitivity to toxins was unmatched, so the moment the faintest trace of poison appeared in the air, she noticed it immediately.
"We've come this far already, huh?" Wei Yang nodded slightly.
In the Ancient Wasteland Region, the deeper one went, the more likely they were to encounter the dreaded Poison Fog — a truly troublesome thing. If one accidentally inhaled too much, even a Dou Zun expert could die from the toxins.
"Sister Medusa, take this Antidote Pill. It can help resist the poison fog's effects," Xian'er said as she flipped her palm, producing a scarlet pill which she handed to Medusa beside her.
When it came to alchemy, she couldn't compare to Wei Yang or Xiao Yan, but when it came to understanding poisons and toxic gases, neither of them could match her. Among those present, Medusa was the only one who actually needed to worry about the poison fog.
As for Wei Yang, Xiao Yan, and Ah Da — they all had Heavenly Flames protecting their bodies, so the poison couldn't affect them much. As for Xian'er, she was practically in her element here.
"Thank you." Medusa took the pill and swallowed it.
Just as they were about to continue forward, a series of shrill screams suddenly erupted from the crowd ahead, stirring up chaos and panic.
"Looks like someone's been poisoned," Xiao Yan said with a faint smirk, shaking his head.
The poison gas here was extremely deadly. If one's strength wasn't high enough, just inhaling a little could be fatal. These people were merely reaping the consequences of their own recklessness — hardly worth pitying.
"Let's go. No need to bother with them." Wei Yang waved his hand and quickened his pace once more.
As for those unlucky souls, he had neither the time nor the mood to care. Since they couldn't suppress their greed and insisted on coming here to court death, they could only take responsibility for their own choices.
As they increased their speed, the poison fog around them grew thicker and denser, while the screams echoing through the forest became more frequent and more chilling.
Before long, violent surges of Dou Qi could even be felt ahead — clearly, some who had been poisoned were losing control in their desperation. Wei Yang's expression remained impassive; he didn't even bother to glance in that direction.
Moving swiftly through the poisonous fog, they advanced another stretch of distance.
Boom!
A short distance ahead, an intense surge of Dou Qi suddenly exploded outward. Sensing the wave, Wei Yang raised an eyebrow and instinctively slowed down slightly.
Whoosh!
With a single step, his figure appeared on the ground ahead. There, lying before him, was a corpse — its entire body blackened. On its face lingered an expression of fear and regret.
"A Dou Zun expert," Xiao Yan landed beside him, letting out a faint sigh.
This unlucky fellow had indeed been a genuine Dou Zun, yet he'd still perished here within the poison fog.
"The poisonous fog here seems strange. With the strength of a Dou Zun, as long as they were cautious, the poison fog shouldn't have been able to kill them," Wei Yang murmured, his brows furrowed.
Hearing this, Xian'er froze for a moment. Then, lifting her slender jade hand, she made a grasping motion. A wisp of the surrounding poison gas was drawn toward her and she directly inhaled it. A moment later, her expression shifted slightly.
"What is it?" Wei Yang raised an eyebrow.
Xiao Yan and the others also turned their gazes toward her.
Frowning slightly, Xian'er said softly, "The poison fog here is indeed unusual. This isn't actually poison gas — it's made of poison insects."
"Poison insects?" Wei Yang and the others were startled.
They stared at the poison fog for a moment but couldn't see a single trace of any insects.
"These poison insects are extremely tiny — so small that they're almost invisible to the naked eye. They float through the forest, and those who were poisoned inhaled countless of them into their bodies."
Xian'er explained calmly, "By now, even your bodies likely contain some of these things. If you rely solely on your Heavenly Flames' natural protective aura, unless you completely envelop your bodies with the flames, they'll still find a way to infiltrate.
My body naturally contains poison energy, so once they entered me, they were immediately killed by my toxins — that's why I didn't notice them right away."
"Hiss~"
Hearing this, Wei Yang and the others couldn't help but draw in sharp breaths.
A chill ran through their bodies, goosebumps rising instinctively. They immediately sank their focus inward, circulating their Heavenly Flames at full force until the scorching energy swept through every corner of their bodies.
The intense heat even seeped into their blood and bones. Only Medusa remained still, frowning slightly.
Squeak, squeak~
As Wei Yang circulated both his Heavenly Flame and bloodline power, burning every inch of his body, strange squeaking noises suddenly erupted from within him — enough to make one's scalp tingle.
It was as though countless tiny bugs were being incinerated in an instant.
"Careless of me… I almost got done in by these things."
Wei Yang's face darkened slightly as he opened his mouth and spat out a puff of gray ash-like smoke. That ash was the remains of the poison insects that had invaded his body.
Beside him, Xiao Yan and Ah Da quickly cleansed their own bodies of the countless insects within them. Then, with his palm wreathed in Heavenly Flame, Xiao Yan pressed his hand against Medusa's body. The searing heat spread across her skin, penetrating inward.
Immediately, a flurry of squeaks echoed from within her, making her scalp prickle.
"These poison insects can actually ignore Dou Qi's body protection," Wei Yang said, his eyes sweeping the surroundings.
With a wave of his hand, a surge of black flame roared to life in his palm.
Crackle~
An intensely scorching heat burst forth, accompanied by faint arcs of lightning spreading through the air, enveloping a ten-zhang radius around them.
