"Are you certain it's dragon pox?"
Mrs Malfoy asked again, disbelief evident in her voice.
"My preliminary examination does suggest that," Wade replied calmly. "However, to be absolutely certain, we should wait for a Healer from St Mungo's to perform a proper examination with specialised equipment."
Abraxas rushed over and tightly grasped Wade's hand.
"You can save my father, can't you? Back when Tom's family was attacked, it was your emergency treatment that saved his father..."
Hearing Abraxas's words, Mr and Mrs Malfoy immediately regained a little hope.
The attack on the Riddle family by Morfin Gaunt and his accomplices had once been a case that shocked the entire wizarding world.
Many of the Muggle guards at Riddle Manor had died tragically, yet the members of the Riddle family themselves had all survived.
At the time, Dumbledore had respected Wade's wishes and kept his involvement in the treatment secret, so only Wade's friends knew the truth.
As a result, the Malfoys were only now learning that Wade possessed such extraordinary healing abilities.
However, Wade shook his head.
"This isn't the same situation, Abraxas. Mr Malfoir... Mr Riddle had been struck by a curse, and his body had been torn apart. It looked terrifying, but ultimately, all that was required was to remove the curse and repair the wounds. Your father's illness..." Wade paused. "This is a bacterial infection. It's extremely complicated, and unfortunately not an area in which I specialise."
The Malfoys sighed in disappointment, but it was understandable. Wade was not a god.
At his age, mastering the treatment of curse injuries was already extraordinary. How could they expect him to be equally skilled at treating infectious diseases?
At that moment, Tom, who had remained silent until now, shot Wade a strange look.
In Tom's imagination, wasn't Wade supposed to immediately announce that he could cure it, proceed to heal Mr Malfoy, and earn the gratitude of the entire Malfoy family?
Why was he suddenly saying he couldn't?
Then hadn't Mr Malfoy's dragon pox been contracted for nothing?
Unless...
Unless Wade really hadn't been behind this after all?
Pop!
Two figures suddenly appeared in the drawing room.
One was Toby, who had just left.
The other was a witch wearing the distinctive dark green robes of St Mungo's and a face mask.
She had beautiful silver hair and a pair of curious eyes that were scanning the room.
She certainly looked like a Healer, though she also looked rather confused about how she had suddenly ended up here.
After looking around, the witch suddenly spotted Wade.
"Oh? Wade! So the house-elf who dragged me away from the hospital was yours?"
Her voice sounded oddly familiar to Wade.
Sure enough, when the Healer removed her mask and revealed her young, beautiful face, Wade realised that she was an old acquaintance.
"Miss Guinness? I didn't expect Toby to bring you here," Wade said with a smile.
Back when the Riddle family had been hospitalised at St Mungo's, Wade had also spent some time there himself.
The Healers had been fascinated by his methods of treatment.
As a result, Wade had remained at St Mungo's for a period, exchanging ideas with them.
During that time, he had become acquainted with many beautiful female Healers.
And among them, the one he had grown closest to was Miss Guinness from the Artefact Accidents Ward.
Compared with the others, Miss Guinness was undoubtedly more capable. She could easily understand Wade's ideas and had a witty, engaging personality.
"All right, Wade, we can catch up later," Miss Guinness said hurriedly. "The house-elf told me you have a patient here, and that it's urgent. Are you the one who's ill?"
She looked him over and found no sign that he was unwell.
"It's Mr Malfoy. Please examine him." Wade paused. "By the way, aren't you from the Artefact Accidents Ward? I asked Toby to fetch someone from the Magical Bugs and Diseases Ward."
Miss Guinness hurried over to Mr Malfoy and began examining him.
"I'm actually assigned to the Magical Bugs and Diseases Ward," she explained while working. "I just help out in the Artefact Accidents Ward when things are quiet. You know how it is. Wizards suffering from serious illnesses like dragon pox or lymphatic fungus infections aren't very common, whereas people injured by magical objects are everywhere."
She stopped speaking when she noticed the tiny pustules around Mr Malfoy's neck.
Immediately, her expression became serious.
She took her medical case from Toby, opened it, and removed a small box.
When the box opened, Wade discovered that it contained a peculiar microscope, several syringes, and a number of ordinary-looking test strips.
Surprisingly, none of it looked particularly magical.
Miss Guinness drew a small amount of blood from Mr Malfoy with a syringe, then dipped a test strip into it.
The next second, the white strip instantly turned green before suddenly bursting into flame.
Miss Guinness sighed.
She then prepared a sample from Mr Malfoy's blood and examined it using the strange microscope.
After a few moments, she sighed again.
"It is indeed dragon pox. Fortunately, it's still in the early stages..." She looked up at them. "You were very lucky to catch it so early."
"Then... that means it can still be cured?" Mrs Malfoy asked hopefully.
"There is still a way to treat it, but... ultimately, it will depend on the success rate," Miss Guinness said seriously. "Many of the treatments are still in the experimental stage. And... for the time being, you'd all better keep your distance from Mr Malfoy. Dragon pox is highly contagious. I'm sorry, but I'll have to take some necessary precautions. Wade, could you ask your house-elf to bring a few more people? I didn't bring enough medical supplies."
Wade nodded and glanced at Toby.
Understanding immediately, Toby disappeared from the drawing room once more.
After hearing that dragon pox was highly contagious, Tom discreetly took a few steps backwards.
Meanwhile, Mr Malfoy ordered both his wife and Abraxas to stay away from him.
For a time, the drawing room, which had been filled with cheerful conversation only half an hour earlier, became oppressively heavy.
Mrs Malfoy held her son tightly while looking at her husband through tears.
"Healer..." Mr Malfoy said at last, his voice trembling.
"My name is Guinness Derwent. You may call me Healer Derwent," Guinness replied.
"Derwent? I seem to remember that St Mungo's once had a Head Healer named Dilys Derwent..."
"She was my great-grandmother."
"I see..." Mr Malfoy took a deep breath. "Healer Derwent, you must make absolutely certain that my wife and son don't catch this from me!"
"Please don't worry. Your condition is still in the early stages, and you haven't developed the characteristic rashes between your toes yet. In the early stages, dragon pox isn't nearly as contagious. Once my colleagues arrive, we'll implement some protective measures. They'll be fine."
"And me...?"
