Chapter 478 - Chapter 478: A Disturbance in the Depths of the Dragon's Den

The Garchomp was quite satisfied as well.

It wasn't that these materials were especially precious to it. After all, the members of the Dragon Clan had always been generous in providing resources for the Pokémon living in the Dragon's Den.

The problem was that it had so many children to raise. Each Garchomp received only a fixed share of supplies, so the burden on it was still considerable.

It had done its own calculations.

First, this unknown human Trainer clearly had good character. Otherwise, he would never have been entrusted with that flower, and the Guardian certainly wouldn't have allowed him to take one of the young.

Second, he was wealthy.

Between the Dragon Scale and all those Dragon-type materials, Garchomp was convinced he had plenty more treasures on him. That could only benefit its unborn child.

Finally, this Trainer was exceptionally talented.

Although it looked down somewhat on the Blaziken beside him, believing Dragon Pokémon possessed nobler bloodlines, it couldn't deny the Fire-type's strength.

Judging from its aura, Garchomp estimated the two of them would be evenly matched.

For such a young Trainer to possess a Pokémon of that caliber, he had to be one of humanity's true prodigies.

A genius Trainer paired with the offspring of a talented Garchomp it was a perfect match.

Garchomp nodded to itself, thoroughly pleased with its decision.

The Gabite, as the child's mother, offered no objections either.

She could sense the overwhelming strength radiating from Blaziken and knew her child would have a bright future under this Trainer.

Thus, while the Garchomp chieftain watched with a bewildered expression, the agreement between one human and the two Pokémon parents was reached in less than half a minute.

Silas chuckled as he placed the Gible Egg with Elite Four potential back into the chieftain's arms.

Sorry, little one. We do have fate on our side. but your younger brother or sister has even more.

Feeling the Egg stir in its arms, the Garchomp chieftain fell into deep thought.

It felt like something had gone terribly wrong, it just couldn't figure out what.

Meanwhile, Silas hugged the other Egg with a foolish grin.

A Champion-potential Garchomp.

Hehehe...

Who cares about Dragonite? Garchomp is the true GOAT.

He had already decided.

One day, this little fellow would battle Cynthia's Garchomp.

Both would be Champion-level Pokémon.

There was no reason his couldn't win.

It also worked out perfectly since Togekiss never liked relying on type advantages to win battles.

Silas could already imagine the shocked look on Cynthia's face.

"Let's see you sweep my team now."

After doing some quick calculations, his eyebrows nearly danced with excitement.

Just wait. I'll definitely get my revenge.

"Blaziken."

Blaziken gave the Garchomp family an apologetic cry.

"Sorry about my Trainer. His brain occasionally malfunctions but he's really incredible.I reached this level at just over a year old, all thanks to him."

"Garchomp?!"

The Garchomp were stunned.

Just over a year old?

Even the Garchomp chieftain was speechless.

It could tell Blaziken was young but this was simply outrageous.

When it had been that age, it had probably still been a Gible spending its days happily eating dirt.

Silas, still immersed in his excitement, had no idea Blaziken was enthusiastically bragging about him, further raising the Garchomp family's opinion of him.

"Garchomp."

The chieftain smacked its son repeatedly with its fin-like arms.

Look at him, then look at yourself. You're lazy and gluttonous every single day.

The younger Garchomp didn't care in the slightest.

With its naturally sturdy body, the hits hardly bothered it.

Instead, it placed a Dragon-type energy-infused stone into its mouth and closed its eyes in satisfaction.

Its father's smacks actually helped it absorb the Dragon energy more efficiently.

The Gible Egg in Silas's arms suddenly wobbled.

It awkwardly tried to turn itself around, as though it couldn't bear to acknowledge that this was its father.

Unfortunately, rotating around inside an Egg was still far too difficult.

The tiny movement finally pulled Silas out of his joyful daze.

Carefully, he took an Egg Incubator and nutrient solution from his space backpack and placed the Egg inside.

Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon weren't just rare because they produced few Eggs.

Their Eggs also took much longer to hatch than those of ordinary Pokémon.

Even with an incubator and nutrient solution, Silas estimated it would still take at least ten days before the Gible hatched.

Compared to all his previous Pokémon, that was an incredibly long incubation period.

The Garchomp chieftain leaned over curiously.

So this thing really speeds up hatching?

The Dragon Clan had once provided nutrient solution for them as well.

Unfortunately, Garchomp weren't exactly known for their delicate parenting skills.

Eventually, they simply stopped using it.

To a Garchomp, whose lifespan was relatively long, spending several months or even half a year waiting for an Egg to hatch wasn't a big deal.

"I'll probably stay in Blackthorn City for a while," Silas said to the Garchomp.

"Once the Gible hatches, I'll see if Clair can arrange for me to bring it back here so it can visit all of you."

"Garchomp."

The Garchomp was even more pleased.

This human is excellent.

Then, through Blaziken's translation, Silas began discussing raising Garchomp with the chieftain.

Every Champion-level Pokémon was unique, each following its own path.

But since this unborn Gible was the chieftain's own grandchild, there was no one better suited to offer advice.

And that proved to be true.

No matter how knowledgeable human Trainers became, there were always aspects of Pokémon they simply couldn't understand as well as the Pokémon themselves.

The Garchomp chieftain shared many unconventional uses for rare Dragon-type materials.

Silas immediately realized it was time to revise Version Two of his Garchomp training plan.

In fact, one of the changes could be implemented immediately.

"Hold on a second."

Silas spoke to the Garchomp chieftain as he rummaged through his space backpack.

After searching for several minutes, his face finally lit up.

"Found it at last."

"Garchomp!"

The prince Garchomp instantly appeared in front of Silas.

Its eyes locked onto the fang-shaped item in Silas's hand, and a thin trail of drool began forming at the corner of its mouth.

"Garchomp."

Its father showed no mercy this time.

With one swing of its fin-like arm, it sent the younger Garchomp flying into the distance.

That's for my unborn grandchild. You're not getting your claws on it.

The Garchomp chieftain looked at Silas in surprise.

Even it hadn't expected that after casually mentioning it, this human Trainer would actually possess a Dragon Fang, and one of exceptionally high quality at that.

Out of respect for their ancestors, Dragon Fangs were incredibly rare within the Dragon's Den.

Most remained buried alongside the skeletons of the dragons they came from.

Only a small number were bestowed by the Guardian upon the Dragon Clan and particularly outstanding Dragon-type descendants.

"Garchomp."

Regardless, this would only benefit the Gible.

The Garchomp chieftain immediately began instructing Silas.

Following its directions, Silas carefully scraped off an extremely thin layer of powder from the Dragon Fang. Then he ground several Dragon-type energy-rich materials, such as Stardust, into fine powder.

He mixed them together before adding juice extracted from Belue Berries and Durin Berries.

A thick, red-and-golden glowing mixture was soon created.

Definitely a nurturing compound not a seasoning.

With the utmost care, Silas took the Pokémon Egg back out and gently coated its entire shell with the mixture.

The blue Egg seemed to instinctively understand that the substance was beneficial.

Its shell glowed faintly.

The thick nurturing compound gradually became transparent before disappearing completely as it was absorbed into the Egg.

"So that's all there is to it?"

Silas looked toward the Garchomp chieftain.

According to its explanation, combining these materials would allow the Gible inside the Egg to be born with a much stronger natural affinity for Dragon-type energy.

The Garchomp chieftain nodded.

Although everything besides the Dragon Fang appeared to be ordinary Dragon-type materials, the specific combination had been developed over generations through countless years of research by their clan.

Even the Dragon Clan knew nothing about this technique.

If Silas hadn't been raising its own grandchild, the Garchomp chieftain would never have shared such knowledge so readily.

The Pokémon Egg fell silent, as though it had eaten its fill.

When Silas placed it back into the incubator, he deliberately didn't add any nutrient solution.

The energy it had just absorbed would be enough for the Gible inside to digest over the next several days.

The prince Garchomp flew back looking rather miserable.

Seeing that the Dragon Fang was already gone, it let out a disappointed sigh.

If I'd known this would happen, I should've just sold myself.

It's only a few decades anyway. I could always come back afterward and inherit the clan. The old man isn't dying anytime soon.

The Garchomp chieftain's face twisted into a fierce scowl.

It knew its child far too well and could practically read its thoughts.

If Silas hadn't been present, the useless brat would've been lying flat on the ground for at least ten days after another beating.

Amid the desert, Silas had completely blended into the Garchomp clan.

Now that he had successfully obtained a Champion-potential Gible, his objective had already been accomplished.

He didn't even feel like visiting the other clans anymore.

What if one of them also had a Champion-potential Gible?

That would only make him regret his choice.

Everything remained peaceful.

Until—

"ROOOAAAR!!"

A deafening dragon's roar echoed throughout the entire Dragon's Den.

The Garchomp that had been chatting happily with Silas instantly looked up.

An overwhelming aura erupted from its body.

Whoosh!

Silas only felt his vision blur.

The enormous Garchomp vanished without making the slightest sound.

He immediately stood up as well, his expression turning serious as he looked toward the direction from which the roar had come.

If he remembered correctly, that was the same direction where the Garchomp chieftain had gone earlier with the flower.

The deepest part of the Dragon's Den.

The Dragon Sanctuary.

The place where the Guardian Dragonite and several powerful Dragon-type Pokémon resided.

"Something's happened..."

Silas muttered quietly.
