Chapter 332 - Chapter 332

Adam finished with the Doctor a little while later. He confirmed that Adam had done some notable damage to his own arms, but he was on the path to recovery. In fact, to Adam's surprise, shock, and delight, his body was recovering far faster than a normal human would. It seemed the Ouroborous factor was aiding him once more. Still, Adam was advised to take it easy on his body for some time, which he was more than happy to do considering he had a task list to complete in the Vault.

Adam's next stop was fulfilling a promise and returning a favor he owed to one of his friends. So, with his mind set he headed to Eve's room.

He got to the door and found it closed, with a push of the button next to the door he rang the doorbell and summoned her to the door. She arrived a moment later as the door opened fully to reveal the space she was now inhabiting.

Her room was, to put it bluntly, the sort of room that would come if two sisters who were polar opposites were forced to share a room. On one hand the room was covered in a huge number of stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes. Pink fuzzy pillows were visible sitting on the couch and there were even a few charms and dream catchers hung up on the walls. On the other hand there was a distinct 'goth' aesthetic. There were candles lit all over the room, two literal skulls sat on the dining room table, there were a number of wall art pieces that were of… questionable subject matter, and a number of other smaller things that fit this vibe as well.

It truly looked like a goth girl and a preppy girl were fighting for the space in the room in this insane clash of styles. However, aside from all of that she had turned one of the side tables into a workbench where she had laid out all of her tools, her oils, her paints, and an entire wall full of guns she had hung up for display and easy access. Honestly, the room was both surprising to see and not at all shocking. It was very Eve.

"What can I do for you, handsome~" Eve said with a flirty tone, clearly happy to see Adam.

"I came to repay a favor. You damaged your claws in the aeronautical research lab and then got hurt again in the fight recently. Well, I figured I would offer my services." Adam chuckled.

"Well don't mind if I take you up on that. I would love to have your hands running all over me." She said with a low, sultry tone. She then gestured to her workbench and walked into another room, grabbed the broken assaultron she had taken, and then placed it on the table. "I can handle most repairs on my own. And I do, because I trust so few people." She started. "But there are just some things I can't fix alone. So let's see if you are as good as you say you are~" She teased.

"I'll do my best not to disappoint." Adam said as he began his work, starting with the large obvious damage to her chassis.

Some of the damage could be fixed with some light welding, some hammering, and a bit of TLC. But other parts, such as one of her claws and one of her leg actuating joints, needed to be replaced. Luckily he had an almost undamaged assaultron to pick parts from to make the repairs. The body had no head but nothing on Eve's head was damaged so it did not matter.

While Adam worked away on Eve, doing his absolute best to fix her up to the best of his ability, he decided to strike up a conversation.

"So how did you learn how to fix yourself up?" Adam asked, curious.

"Trial and error, mostly" She said, turning back a bit to look at Adam as he was working on the back of her leg right now, the one that was heavily damaged in the fight.

"Still, that couldn't have been easy. You are an assaultron, they are probably the most mechanically complicated robot available on the market. Even right now I'm no assaultron expert, even if I know a thing or two."

"That's how I learned. Sure, my body may be more… sophisticated than others, but it's still just the body of an assaultron, I had 200 years to learn. Taking apart my sisters gave me many insights and a bit of experimentation allowed me to even make modifications to myself~" She teased as she gently gestured to a custom modification she had between her legs. Adam decided not to address it.

"Still, I gotta say it's impressive. What about coding? Do you have any issues with that?"

"Oh, no I don't know the first thing about programming. Luckily, unless I'm basically dead, my programming doesn't need to be addressed."

"Surely you must have errors or something?" Adam asked, shocked.

"Not at all~." She said with a sultry tone. "Perhaps it's due to the fact I am aware of life or perhaps it's because I was built differently I do not know. What I do know is that in my 200 years of sentience I have never once needed to adjust my programming." She said with a playful tone and then paused. "To be honest…" She started, sounding quiet and more vulnerable now. "I'm genuinely scared of someone rooting around in there. It would be no different than someone rooting around in your head. What if they changed something that made me, me? I… refuse to let anyone get that close."

"I understand." Adam said softly as he slotted in a new servo into the leg to allow it to move more smoothly. "I wouldn't want someone changing my thoughts, my feelings. Though, I suppose, being a clone bred in this Vault, I was messed with. I mean I know Baxter was not all like me, I have tendencies like my desire to throw myself into action, that the original Adam did not have. So I totally get where you are coming from. But, if there comes a time when you are suffering, something wrong with your coding, you can trust me. I won't betray your trust. I would only want to help." Adam said comfortingly.

"That is… very sweet of you Adam." She said, turning around now, stopping Adam mid-work to look at him face to face. "No one is perfect, I know that. The world is full of horrible men… But I also know not everyone is like that." She said as she gently dragged the outside of her claw on Adam's face in a tender motion. "I know you are one of the good ones Adam. But please, permit this old girl her insecurities. We all have fears. Even me." She said with a bittersweet tone.

"All I'm saying, Eve, is that you do not have to be afraid when you are with me. You were one of my first friends when I woke up, the world back then was so alien to me. You were one of the first to accept me with open arms." Adam said as he gently took her claw in his hand.

"Oh you flatter me." She said with a genuine tone, not a flirty or seductive one, surprisingly. "But you were strong back then, you would have been fine even if you had never met me."

"Maybe, but I know I would not have been able to shoulder all my burdens as well as I did without your aid and advice. I truly do care about you Eve. Never forget that." Eve went silent and then gently pulled her claw away from Adam, turning around again. Adam could tell, by her body language, she would be blushing if she was capable of it.

"Just focus on my repairs, please." She said, again without her trademark flirty tone.

"Yes ma'am." Adam said with a small chuckle.
