Chapter 397: Turning the Tables!
Led by the Slaughter King, Han Li ascended to the highest level of the tower a small open air platform that provided a panoramic view of all of Slaughter City. In a way, it was quite a decent observation deck.
"Alright, you can leave now. Make sure everyone stays quiet later."
Han Li glanced at the Slaughter King, who had been sneaking looks at his left hand the entire way up. How could he not know what it was thinking? Unfortunately for it, disappointment was inevitable.
Even if this wasn't already part of Han Li's plan, he wasn't so generous as to hand over a complete godhood to a mere beast he had only encountered a few times.
A bat thinking it can eat peaches? Dream on.
"Understood, no problem at all, my lord! I promise no one will disturb you!"
The Slaughter King showed no change in expression at Han Li's cold tone. Instead, it pounded its chest with a resounding thump, making an enthusiastic vow.
"Mhm."
Han Li responded indifferently and ignored it. Only then did the Slaughter King wisely bow and take its leave.
Standing atop the platform, Han Li watched as the Slaughter King herded the prisoners, forcing them into the farthest residential areas. Only then did he settle into a state of calm.
Initially, he had assumed that the final step of his mastery over the Fate Laws would fall into place when dealing with Tang Chen. However, the moment he set foot in Slaughter City, that last fragment had already merged seamlessly into his divine soul, bringing his control over fate to completion.
This was one of the reasons he hadn't even bothered meeting Tang Chen.
Sitting there in silence, he appeared to be mentally preparing himself, but in reality, he was waiting waiting for the others' godhood ceremonies to reach their final moments. After all, three people were still missing from this event.
At that moment, Han Li's brow twitched. They're here. His good son had just delivered the news there was movement on the other end.
Simultaneously, the sky above Slaughter City began to shift.
The once dark and oppressive clouds churned violently, crackling with blood red lightning that surged unpredictably through the gray sky. Suspended at Han Li's side, the Asura Demon Sword began floating of its own accord, channeling the scarlet lightning down toward Han Li, gathering above his head but remaining unspent, as if waiting for something.
Han Li didn't immediately reach for the Asura Demon Sword. Instead, he lifted his gaze skyward.
In two different regions of the continent, three streaks of multicolored light shot across the heavens, making no effort to conceal themselves as they sped toward Slaughter City. Who else could they be but the final three?
At the same time, across the continent, a colossal projection displayed their ascensions. Even on Seagod Island, Ye LingLing had completed her divine inheritance. One after another, the proclamations of divine law echoed through the skies, leaving the entire continent in shock.
In a single day, six new gods had been born figures once thought to exist only in myth. Two of them were known to be close to the renowned Saint Son of the Spirit Hall, while the others, as revealed through the projection, were also from the Spirit Hall. What an unparalleled sight to behold!
The light screen still lingered, stirring the imaginations of countless people. Was there more to come?
Now that the moment had arrived, Han Li no longer hesitated. Divine energy surged around him, and two spatial gates appeared by his side. With the entire Douluo Star as his foundation, the divine power he expended could be replenished in an instant. There was no need to keep up any pretense now.
The three streaks of light paused momentarily before diving straight into the silver portals, appearing before Han Li on the platform.
"Xiao Li."
Three voices called his name in unison. Han Li smiled and nodded but said nothing.
He glanced over the three of them and let out a silent tsk of admiration. His eyes gleamed with satisfaction things had turned out even better than expected.
Their inheritances were already complete; their divine ascensions had already finished. The faint, distinct ripples of their godhoods confirmed as much. Yet, curiously, the divine proclamations announcing their ascensions had yet to be made.
Clearly, this was intentional.
Han Li had originally prepared for other contingencies, but now they were unnecessary. If the Divine Realm refused to grant what was due, then he would simply take it himself.
As for the Asura God's little schemes? Sorry, but I'll be taking everything. If he planned to use the Slaughter God Domain to disperse the divine laws, then too bad it was all Han Li's now. Since it was already on the table, there was no taking it back.
"Stand behind me in a bit, and help out when needed."
Han Li cast a glance at the Asura Demon Sword, which was now gleaming as it absorbed the crimson lightning. Seemingly oblivious to the significance of his words, he casually instructed the three.
"Alright." ×3
The three exchanged glances and nodded, already grasping what was about to happen.
The moment their voices fell, the Asura Demon Sword's absorption of the blood red lightning accelerated.
Heh. Han Li chuckled lightly, then ascended into the air, grasping the sword's hilt. A blood red command token bearing the character "Han" emerged from his chest, affixing itself to the blade.
At that instant, the crimson lightning and blood colored runes adorning the sword flared violently, as though they had found their conduit, surging into the blade at an alarming pace. A blinding crimson radiance engulfed the entire Slaughter City.
Below, the city trembled. Deep within, the Blood Pool surged like molten lava, colliding against itself, sending waves crashing skyward.
The sword quivered. The command token hummed.
Suspended in midair, Han Li's divine armor had unknowingly surfaced upon his body, now etched with ominous blood red runes. The formerly pale red glow of his divine gear was now imbued with an unmistakable air of killing intent.
At Han Li's side, two Divine Dragon Blades emerged, with the fire attributed one eagerly moving closer. The dragon head at its hilt seemed to come to life, greedily devouring the blood red patterns as if saying, Give me more!
Another thunderous boom resounded as Han Li's eyes snapped open. He looked up toward the "cloud layer" above him. Roughly thirty percent of the Asura Demon Marks still lingered in the sky, yet they were no longer channeling down toward him.
Beyond the "clouds," he saw several pairs of eyes watching him, with the one at the center belonging to none other than Asura himself, the very deity he had once locked eyes with.
Han Li stared at them for several moments before suddenly breaking into a grin.
At first, he lowered his head slightly, but just as suddenly, he snapped it back up, raised his left hand toward the "clouds," and extended his middle finger.
His lips moved as he mouthed a few words: "F** you!"*
Above, the watching eyes narrowed slightly, but before they could react, the "clouds" exploded apart. Han Li had completely severed the Divine Realm's observation of him.
Inside the Divine Realm's Core
The entire chamber fell into silence.
The divine screen before them, which had just been displaying Han Li's ascension, had abruptly vanished. The members of the Divine Realm Committee remained seated, their expressions varied.
"Did he just… insult us?"
Destruction's voice wavered with uncertainty. He had never been "treated" like this before.
"What do you think?"
Asura shot to his feet, his face dark with fury.
Evil took a deep breath and waved a hand. The screen reappeared before them, but this time, it no longer displayed the scene from Douluo Continent.
Instead, a single isolated planet flickered with pale light. Their connection to it had been completely severed.
Worse yet, Asura could feel his own divine aura had plummeted sharply. Though Han Li's ascension wasn't fully complete, the godhood and corresponding divine law had already been taken. To regain his former strength, he would now have to cultivate anew for a period of time.
"What do we do now?"
Evil glanced at Asura's unstable aura and turned to the other gods. He refused to take all the blame for this after all, they had all agreed to this plan. They just hadn't expected Han Li to pull off something like this.
"We descend immediately."
Destruction stood up at once. The severity of the situation had exceeded his expectations. A planet with the potential to become a second Divine Realm could not be allowed to escape their control, especially given how unfriendly its current master was toward them.
"We go together. We cannot allow a second Dragon God to emerge."
Asura's super divine weapon appeared in his hand. Since the godhood had been taken from him, he had no qualms about personally reclaiming it.
"We follow his lead. All together."
Evil's voice rang out, making the final decision.
Five streaks of divine light shot toward the Divine Realm's gateway. With Han Li having severed all connections to the Divine Realm, even they had no choice but to traverse the cosmos the long way to reach Douluo Star.
And that time frame was precisely what Han Li needed.
Back in Slaughter City
The crowd stood frozen, staring at Han Li suspended in midair. They had no idea why he had suddenly started cursing, but that didn't stop their foreheads from breaking into a nervous sweat.
Not that their opinions mattered.
The moment the "cloud layer" ceased its turbulence, the three women beneath Han Li felt a sudden lightness, as though something had been unlocked within them.
Simultaneously, their figures were projected into the sky, and their divine ascensions were proclaimed across the entire continent.
Three more gods had emerged.
This time, even Slaughter City's skies were illuminated by the same celestial display.
"Gu Yue, together!"
Having made his choice, Han Li no longer hesitated. The next moment, his own image appeared in the sky projection, his voice ringing out toward Heaven Dou City.
"Roar!"
As if responding to his call, a dragon's roar erupted from Sunset Forest near Heaven Dou City.
A brilliant silver light flared, and a massive silver dragon, stretching at least a thousand meters long, shot into the sky, dominating the other half of the celestial projection.
Meanwhile, Han Li held a purple red rhomboid crystal in his hand and fed it into the ice attributed Dragon Blade. The blade's dragon head swallowed it whole before plunging into the clouds above, ravenously devouring the remaining crimson lightning like demon marks.
The laws of Good and Evil, even with the Evil God Orb in his possession, were still too vast for him to fully assimilate in the short term.
So he'd settle for this borrowing the power of the Rakshasa to make up the difference. After all, Rakshasa had once been Asura's rival, so it couldn't be that bad.
Besides, this wasn't even part of his primary ascension plans it was just a temporary workaround.
At that moment, the five Divine Kings were still en route to Douluo Star.
Meanwhile, at another Divine Realm gateway, a figure cloaked in blue exchanged pleasantries with the gatekeeper before quietly vanishing from the Divine Realm.
