Chapter 550: It'll Explode
"Monster Hunter, huh? Aside from the size you mentioned, the rest is within an acceptable range."
Steven lowered his head and looked at the sketch Mostima pointed to.
Honestly, it was safer than the former, at least in terms of direct aggression.
But that didn't mean it was harmless. On the contrary, if Mostima's information was accurate, then things were about to get… interesting.
As a Monster Hunter player, Steven clearly remembered that in the storyline where Zorah Magdaros appeared, even a specimen less than a few hundred meters long had an explosion powerful enough to potentially destroy the entire New World.
Now, according to Mostima, the one in this world was already as large as an entire mobile city. Who knew—if it exploded, would it send the whole continent flying into the sky?
"How did you manage to know its full appearance? I could only observe it from afar with a telescope, yet the details in your drawing… they're no fewer than what I saw."
Mostima frowned. At first, she'd guessed Steven might also be someone after her intel. But from his reaction, it seemed he already knew about the thing—and judging by his expression, he looked even more familiar with it than she was.
"If you really want to know, I don't just recognize it—I've personally repelled this thing countless times. Those were… nostalgic days."
Steven half-closed his eyes as he spoke, dropping another bombshell. What he didn't mention was that those "repulsions" happened on a computer screen, not face-to-face.
But that didn't matter. What concerned him now was a far more critical detail.
"There's one more thing I need to confirm. You don't have to tell me where it is—just tell me whether it's in a normal state, and whether it's moving toward land." Steven asked directly, fixing her with an unmistakably firm gaze. If she refused, he'd have to investigate himself later—but any delay could mean disaster for the innocent people living on land.
In his memory, Zorah Magdaros appeared purely to self-destruct. Letting such a massive walking bomb roam freely in this world… who knew when it might blow everything to pieces?
If it exploded in the ocean, that would still be manageable. But if it reached land—judging by the energy levels described in Monster Hunter—Steven doubted any country or human civilization on the surface would survive.
"…I'm not entirely sure. But the entire island gave me only one impression—heaviness. Like an old man approaching death. Even though it looked like nothing more than a turtle, that feeling… I know it wasn't wrong."
Mostima shook her head. She had already said more than she normally should. Yet for some reason, she had a premonition that if she hid anything from Steven on this matter, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"…Tch. Even the state's replicated? Now this is getting interesting."
Steven clicked his tongue, almost amused by the sudden revelation. Just moments ago, he'd been planning a leisurely tour of Lungmen, and now, in the blink of an eye, he was dragged into something that smelled like the end of the world.
Was this world had a sudden collab with Monster Hunter or something? Who is this thing here?
Steven shook his head helplessly. At that moment, he suddenly wanted to see what kind of expression Kal'tsit would make when she heard the information he was about to bring her.
Originally, he thought it was just a dispute over energy resources—at worst, maybe a few countries might clash over mining rights on that island. Who could've guessed that this wasn't a gift of nature at all, but a terrifying stick of TNT that could detonate at any moment?
Steven was almost certain that this Zorah Magdaros was undergoing the same phenomenon as in Monster Hunter—something called the "Elder Crossing." It sounded grand, but in simple terms, it just meant the creature was looking for a suitable place to quietly die.
The problem was… when it died, it would explode.
And if the blast was powerful enough to create an entire new continent, then destroying the landmass of this world probably wouldn't be much of a challenge.
Even more crucially, Steven was likely the only one who knew this. Not even Kal'tsit, who prided herself on knowing everything, would be aware of the price of this creature's death. Otherwise, she would never have allowed such information to be casually handed over.
If Kal'tsit—who constantly spoke about protecting this world—heard that the world might literally blow up… just imagining her reaction made Steven feel oddly excited.
"…Why do I feel like that reaction of yours isn't a good sign? Does this thing pose a danger to people?"
Mostima, who had been watching him closely, frowned. Steven's response was clearly abnormal. Whenever he said something was "interesting," it usually meant disaster for everyone else.
"Hmm… not just humans. Maybe this entire world—well, to put it in terms you'd understand—this thing is probably a massive threat to the land beneath your feet."
Steven smiled and patted Mostima's shoulder, wearing an expression as though she had accomplished something truly great.
"And by telling me this information, you've essentially participated in saving this land. You should feel proud—this is your due."
"…Huh?"
