Chapter 551: Keeping Up with the Times

Ignoring the thoroughly confused Mostima, who had no idea what he was talking about, Steven simply smiled and dropped the subject.

What came next was something only Kal'tsit—or the leaders of the nations living on this land—could truly understand and intervene in. At best, Mostima could provide a location or two; realistically, she couldn't influence the overall course of events.

The only question was whether there was still enough time. After all, from the moment she left Ursus aboard Rhodes Island's landship to reach Lungmen, nearly a full month had already passed.

Granted, given the creature's enormous size, it probably hadn't moved too far in that time. But the problem was… no one knew where it intended to stop and explode.

Which meant that if Steven wanted to ensure that giant Zorah Magdaros didn't blow this world sky-high, it was about time he started taking action.

To be honest, Steven had never been particularly interested in saving the world. In his mind, that was usually the job of knights or giant alien heroes in tight suits.

And he himself wasn't worried about surviving even if the thing exploded. As a Minecraft player who could bootstrap an automated production chain from a single patch of dirt, survival wasn't exactly difficult.

But… things were different now. He was no longer the outsider who had just arrived in this world with no ties. He had made friends here. There were people he cared about. Watching the world be destroyed like this… he wasn't quite ready for that.

He doesn't want to be all by himself again.

So even if not for himself, he felt he should at least get involved—see if there was anything he could do.

Facing something as massive as Zorah Magdaros, even Steven wasn't sure how to deal with it. Killing it would be easy, but the explosion after its death was something he currently had no way of handling.

In other words, he needed to keep it alive while somehow convincing it to abandon its final resting place. That was no simple task. It would be best to discuss things with Kal'tsit.

"…I still don't understand what you're trying to say."

Mostima looked up at Steven. Whether it was his words or his actions, she couldn't figure out what he was aiming for.

Yet one thing her instincts told her—he wasn't acting, and he definitely wasn't joking.

"It's fine if you don't understand. Just go do what you want. Those three are Penguin Logistics too, right? And I already dealt with the people who were tracking you. That means I've completed my commission. Let's part ways here, I've got something important to handle."

Steven glanced at the three girls behind her, who looked just as confused, then chuckled lightly and said his farewell.

If he had time, he'd like to chat with that Sankta girl among them. But more urgent matters awaited, so that would have to wait.

"Are you sure you don't need me to tell you the volcano's route and possible locations?"

Trusting her intuition, Mostima grabbed his sleeve. The information that had made a Columbian organization risk an attack in Lungmen—she was now ready to hand it over with just a word.

"We'll talk later. I've got something more urgent right now. When I really need your intel, I'll come find you."

Seeing from her expression that she might have guessed something, Steven smiled. Then he turned and walked straight toward a nearby corner.

When Mostima and the three girls walked over in confusion, Steven was already gone.

It was as if he had been erased from existence, leaving no trace behind.

Steven had already teleported through a black hole into an empty alley. Yet he wasn't in a hurry to return to Rhodes Island and inform Kal'tsit of what he had learned.

Sure, he was curious about her reaction. But right now, there was a far more important question weighing on his mind—one he needed someone to answer.

[Is Hypergryph there? I think I need an explanation. If possible, could you connect me to customer support?]

He didn't speak aloud. Instead, he typed the message into a private chat window visible only to himself. Then he sat down nearby, looking exactly like a player waiting for customer service to resolve an in-game issue.

The chat box remained empty except for his own message. To any observer, it would look like he was simply talking to himself.

But in the next second, the world froze.

Everything fell silent, as though someone had pressed pause. The only sounds left were Steven's breathing and heartbeat.

Then a figure slowly walked in from the entrance of the alley behind him. The eagle-like head perched upon her shoulders made her identity unmistakable.

"What is it?"

Her voice was calm, devoid of emotion. The being who called herself Hypergryph stopped in front of Steven and met his gaze.

"I think you know why I'm looking for you. That thing absolutely doesn't belong in this world. And I guarantee it never appeared in the original storyline either."

Steven narrowed his eyes, showing no reverence whatsoever despite facing what could be considered the true creator of this world.

"Do you think you are someone who was originally meant to exist in this world?"

"Just treat it as a crossover event. Besides… I'm sure you already have a way to deal with it, don't you?"
