"Commander!"
The Four-eyed Demon crept up to a guard with a mysterious air.
However, this was no ordinary jailer; he was a sub-boss responsible for managing all the guards in the Bunker. Usually, a prisoner would have no way of contacting an officer of this rank. But as one of the few inmates with dueling capabilities, the Four-eyed Demon held responsibilities akin to a trustee, occasionally assisting with prisoner management.
This was why, when You Xuan first arrived, the guard had permitted him to "educate" the newcomer.
"What is it?" the Commander asked coldly. "You should know that the Bunker was just infiltrated by petty intruders. This is our busiest time. If it isn't urgent..."
"It's definitely urgent!" The Four-eyed Demon looked distraught. "There's a prisoner a newcomer who is completely lawless! He has no respect for the Bunker's rules! He openly flouts them,
forcing us into duels, unreasonably snatching our Decks, and even brutally killing other inmates through dueling... He isn't just slapping us; he's slapping the Bunker in the face! He's insane, absolutely out of control!"
To his surprise, the Commander didn't seem shocked or ready to act. Instead, he slowly asked, "Oh. And which prisoner would that be?"
This reaction made the Four-eyed Demon uneasy. Had the Commander already found out? If he knew and didn't care, was there something shady going on?
But since he had already made the report, there was no turning back. His Deck had been taken, and he couldn't just let it go. He continued his tearful accusation.
"It's the newest one! He arrived earlier today! He's already doing whatever he wants on day one. I can't even imagine what he'll do tomorrow..."
"Ah, him." The Commander nodded, seemingly unsurprised. "Did you see it with your own eyes?"
"How could I not?!" the demon snarled. "He even took my Deck! He is openly mocking the rules of the Order... Wait, Commander, what are you doing!?"
The demon was terrified. The Commander had unsheathed his sword and looked ready to strike.
"Since you saw it with your own eyes, I can't let you live," the Commander said coldly. "You know too much."
The Four-eyed Demon froze. "?"
His mouth hung open, his mind a total blank. What? He broke the rules, so why is my head on the chopping block?
"Think carefully. Did this actually happen?" the Commander asked calmly. "Or is it possible you were mistaken?"
The demon's four eyes bulged. Before he could speak, a voice came from behind. "Not at all. He heard right. It's true."
Hearing that voice, the Four-eyed Demon felt a surge of gratitude. A brother was actually risking his life to support him! He turned around, only to freeze.
Damn it... isn't that the defendant?!
You Xuan strolled in leisurely, smiling. "I'll testify. He isn't lying. It really happened."
The demon was stunned. Why are you acting so proud of it?
He looked back at the Commander. See? He confessed! Give me a reaction!
Instead, the Commander scratched his head in annoyance and then said respectfully, "Well, if you were the one who handled that prisoner, he surely must have done something wrong. How about this? Should I find a sorcerer skilled in resurrection to bring him back so he can apologize to you? I'll make sure he reflects properly down there afterward."
Four-eyed Demon: "???"
Do you even hear yourself?!
He was completely lost. Wasn't this guy a new prisoner? From this scene, anyone would think he was the Commander's father. Then, out of the corner of his eye, the demon noticed a small badge on You Xuan's chest. It was inscribed with strange symbols in Fiend Script, but he recognized the meaning instantly.
Vice Warden.
The Four-eyed Demon: "??????"
He was beyond shocked. What the hell? This guy just got here today. How is he already the Warden?
Looking at You Xuan's wide smile and arrogant posture, the demon finally understood the situation.
Who stands below, and why do you accuse this official?
Tears welled up in all four of the demon's eyes. In the end, he was dragged away, howling, by the executioner guards.
The Commander beamed at You Xuan. "Please forgive that little clown, sir. Don't let a nobody like that ruin your mood."
"It's fine." You Xuan waved him off magnanimously. "Actually, I came here today for something else."
He paused. "I recall you're one of the elites with dueling capabilities, right?"
"Thanks to the organization's nurturing!" the Archfiend Commander puffed out his chest.
"Very good. To tell you the truth, besides a standard inspection, I've brought another mission." You Xuan tucked his hands behind his back, adopting the air of a visiting superior. "The organization has evaluated our outposts and determined that the garrison strength of this Bunker is lagging. Therefore, the main generals need to be strengthened."
"During today's attempted jailbreak, the Bunker's performance against outside enemies was barely satisfactory. Although the rebel attack was repelled, there is significant room for improvement."
The Commander nodded repeatedly. "Your criticism is fair, sir..."
"So, at the request of the Order, I've brought a batch of cards as reinforcements," You Xuan said in a deep voice. "With this investment of power, the Bunker's influence in this region will surely be consolidated."
The Commander's eyes lit up, his heart racing. Reinforcements from headquarters!
It was said that the current Warden's ace card was a gift from the Order's headquarters. The Great Leviathan had visited countless worlds and conquered tens of thousands of dimensions;
everyone knew the organization possessed power and resources far beyond the imagination of ordinary spirits. Even the smallest scraps from the headquarters would be a massive boon.
"Thank you so much!" the Commander nearly prostrated himself. "I will not let the organization's nurturing go to waste!"
"Good. First, let me see your Deck," You Xuan said with a slight nod.
Without hesitation, the Commander activated his Duel Disk, pulled out his Deck, and handed it over. You Xuan took it, scanned through the cards, and nodded.
"Alright. I'll take this and study it. I'll devise a specific strengthening plan based on your Deck's characteristics and weaknesses. Wait for my word."
"Understood!" With a face full of smiles, the Commander ushered the "Divine Envoy" out of the room.
Even after You Xuan had disappeared from sight, the demon remained immersed in his beautiful fantasy of becoming a top-tier powerhouse. It was said the Warden only reached his current level after being coached by the organization. Now that he had the same opportunity...
The more he thought about it, the happier he became, and he couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh.
"Jie-jie-jie-jie-jie!"
