The Bloomborn had completely disappeared from their sight, well and truly gone. However, the blood trail it left behind was what put their minds at ease.
Wherever they were was unknown to them — the only thing they knew was that it was a large open space, wide enough for six trucks to fit in, lined up side by side.
On each side of the walls, high-intensity LED lighting illuminated the expanse, bright enough for them to make out a collection of objects that had no business being anywhere near a school.
From first glance, someone could tell it had the same feel as a laboratory — everything arranged too neatly, too deliberately, sectioned off with the kind of order only institutions bothered with. Cables ran along the ceiling in tidy, color-coded bundles, the kind of infrastructure that took real money and real time to install properly.
