"Did anyone feel that they're stronger than usual?" Seraphina asked, catching her breath amid the wreckage.
"Yeah." Caleb nursed his side. "Faster, too."
Nyx shook her head. "Their armour was tough. That's it."
'The boss monster's close. Of course, the Blooms nearer it hit harder.' Victor thought, sweeping the chamber. The System had all but confirmed that Vaelmyr was near.

Now that the fighting had stopped, the poor lighting felt worse. A dim glow, like a distant skyline, barely lit the massive tank at the chamber's centre, green liquid bubbling with malformed shapes drifting through it.
Victor's senses blared. "We're not done yet."
Nyx felt it too, a cold wrongness crawling up her spine. But something else caught her attention first: the ice from her fight was still spreading, crawling across the floor and up the walls on its own.
