Victor stared at the empty space in front of him for several seconds, trying to make sense of what he'd just seen. The notification had appeared without warning and disappeared just as quickly, leaving him with more questions than answers.
"What are you looking at?" Caleb asked.
Victor blinked and turned toward him. "Nothing."
Caleb frowned. "You've been staring at that tree for almost a minute."
"Maybe I like trees."
"You're weird."
Victor ignored him and looked ahead again. The feeling hadn't gone away. Whatever the system had detected, it hadn't given him enough information to understand it. That wasn't unusual. The system had never been particularly interested in explaining itself, and Victor had learned a long time ago that trying to force answers out of it was pointless.
Samuel finally gave the signal to continue.
