The second day began with a different kind of test entirely.
Victor was led to a circular room bare of the equipment that had filled yesterday's assessment wing, nothing but smooth stone walls and a single chair positioned at the center. Ashworth waited there along with the silent younger woman, who Victor had still not been given a name for despite two full days in her presence.
"Today we look at the System itself," Ashworth said. "Not your physical capabilities. The interface. The notifications. Whatever intelligence governs how it communicates with you."
"You think the System is separate from me?" Victor asked, settling into the offered chair.
"We don't know yet. That's precisely what we're hoping to determine." Ashworth gestured to the younger woman. "This is Wren. She has a particular sensitivity to constructed intelligences, systems like yours included. She'll be observing directly."
