There was something that stuck out to me, that I never understood. Those countless eyes that gazed into mine, the ocean is so vast, isn't it? I try to grasp that which I can never grasp, an endless mist that sits within my mind as if protecting that something was never meant to be. Am I in the wrong for wanting to know? Am I trying too hard? Am I what I fear I am? When the fog clears.. What if I find something I never wanted to know? What if-
With a hard show Mira landed to the ground, long pale blonde hair covering her sigh before coming to stop resting against the all to familiar back. "Galadriel!" Mira exclaimed in what was relief. Mira reached for Galadriel, a sudden sharp pain shot through her wrist, as a needle slid through the skin digging into the back, her left hand falling limp next to her side. Galadriel made this almost displeased grunt, as she deflected the second one that was about to pierce Mira. Her spear sliding along her hands, adjusting her grip as she thrusted the sharp point straight into the side of the plant that had barely missed them, nearly splitting it in half. "Gala.. You shouldn't.."
"I saw while we were running here, what a nasty trick.." Galadriel scoffed to herself, her eyes hanging on Mira for a moment too long, something almost like frustration flared in her gaze.
"Galadriel, take Mira out of the way! She's clearly dead weight right now and someone here clearly wants her gone.." Tonto grumbled out as she held back one the plant things on her. Koro rushed in, digging his daggers into its side, forcing it out of the way. "Move it and then join back up, keep Mira out of the way." Galadriel's eyes slid over to Mira, but the other woman just gave a light nod with her head. Galadriel clutched her spear tighter, she agreed with taking Mira out of the way, but a part of her worried that leaving Mira alone and unprotected might..
With a sharp inhale Galadriel grabbed Mira by her waist, pulling her up as far as she could. It was sloppy, they could move a few steps at a time, Mira was barely able to move forward. Tonto shoved them along, beads of sweat rolling down her cheek. Her fist connected with one of the five, sending it flying into another. Koro moved quick, precise, steering the things aside without splitting them any further. Each step heavy, the soft wet squelch of blood in Mira's boot made itself known with every step. Galadriel was practically dragging Mira by now they were far enough that the plant tentacles didn't bother following after nor did the cloaked person chase after.
"Galadriel.. It seems this time you're going to be the one protecting me. I'm sorry I did something reckless again.. I.." Mira's voice shook as her breaths came in heavy ragged gasps.
"Don't blame yourself." Galadriel murmured out, biting her lower lip, her fingers digging into the metal of her spear. "That person is targeting you, of course they'd be more than willing to pull dirty tricks like that. That-"
"You should head back, Tonto and Koro won't be able to hold those things off alone. I'll be okay." Galadriel gave a reluctant nod at Mira's words turning towards the chaos.
Galadriel came to a halt, a stop as her gaze was fixated on the distance. They weren't that far from where everything was happening, far enough to avoid danger, close enough to make things out clearly. "Galadriel?" Mira's voice was suddenly quiet, like a soft squeak, something she couldn't stop. She didn't know why her heart was pounding against her ribcage, she felt this sense of dread. With a slow turn her head came to look towards the cloaked person, towards Tonto and Koro, towards..
Mira's breaths came in sharp inhales, that pit in her stomach had settled, flaring into a mix of something hot and twisted. Her right hand moved, fingers digging into the ground with something like desperation.
Drip. Drip. Drip. The deep red liquid pooled on the pavement like leak that cannot be stopped. Tonto hung high in the air, impaled on a plant like stem from her back, a pink flower blooming at the tip of the protruding through Tonto's other side, just beneath her ribs Koro was held up in the air by two thorned vine like tentacles. One keeping his legs wrapped, the other his arms, thorns digging into his skin. Mira's eyes grew wider with her own desperation. The cloaked person lifted their hand into the air, with a soft snap that echoed like a gunshot, the very same needles that had pierced Mira's skin earlier began raining down upon Tonto and Koro. Piercing through flesh and muscle, eventually meeting ground with sharp crashes. With soft thud their bodies met the ground, littered with countless holes, blood soaking the torn fabric. Galadriel couldn't tear her eyes away, she couldn't move her body, it refused to, breathing laboured. Her muscles tensed, ready to step forward, to rush forward. Whatever reasoning, calmness and collected thought she had was gone. It was a thick desperation mixing with something she couldn't describe. Was it fear? Or rage? Yet her body stopped, stopped before she could blindly rush in. "Galadriel!" Mira screeched out, her hand wrapped around Galadriel's leg.
I hesitated, didn't I? Those thoughts, their words, it plagued my mind. I was afraid of becoming a monster, I was afraid of confirming that person's words. I wanted to scream, to tell them I'm not who they think I am, that I am not to blame. Yet those lifeless eyes staring back at me, they scared me. I am to blame for the life that once was there, stripped to nothing but a corpse. Are you begging me to run or to avenge you? When was the last time I felt this way? When was the last time this fog had lifted, even if slightly? I can think straight.. I cant.. I..
