My chest hurts, each breath sends sharp jagged shots of pain. I cannot think straight, yet I know clearly what I must do. I must protect her, I must step up and I must show the world that I am alive. I must avenge them. Even if I prove the world right, even if I prove them right.. Even if I end up never being able to gaze withing the mirror. I will stop being such a coward, I'll open my eyes.
I'm sorry, Galadriel, I can finally see a part of myself, a shard lost to time, a memory drowned and buried in the dunes. I..
Mira slowly rose to her feet, blood splattering in a desperate call to stop Mira. Yet as she straightened out, her wounds began to close, weaving flesh together. All that had been wrong, like it never had been. Eyes locked onto a singular target in the distance.
The silhouette stepping past Galadriel, towards the remnants of a hard battle fought to a bitter end. That snaps Galadriel even slightly out of her trance. They had spent a week together, sure, not a lot of time. But they've spent almost every waking hour together. Galadriel didn't think she'd seem them just fade away like dust in the matter of moments. And now Mira, stepping back right into it. Galadriel opened her mouth to call out to Mira, to yell at her, to scold her. Yet her voice fell flat, that expression on Mira's face. That wasn't the Mira Galadriel knew, that wasn't the shy and cowardly woman she had spent so much time together, that was..
"Finally showing your true colours, I always knew you wouldn't be able to hold back, especially when you sensed danger. Danger to her, right?" The cloaked person gave a small nudge with their finger towards Galadriel. "What drives you to protect her so badly? Is it because she is the vestiges of what once was? Or is there another reason? Though.. I am not particularly interested in hearing your answer, filt-" Beads of water slowly formed around the cloaked person, erupting in a sudden burst of sharp spikes. A fraction of a moment to react, as they tore through the air, nearly grazing them. A hand flew up as the tentacles came to life, tearing towards Mira like they had before. But before they could even touch Mira, they erupted into bursts of water, each point seeping liquid. Mira lifted her hand up, right over where the cloaked person stood. Squeezing thin air, the skin burst, dark blue dripping from underneath the cloak. "So that's the colour you bleed.." The cloaked person groaned as the sharp stings tore through their body. Chains formed by water shot from the ground. Something meant to purely hold them down. Who said that Mira had to be original? The cloaked person dodged them by only a bit, gasping. The hood over their had fallen. Dark green hair spilling forth in thick locks, eyes like black pits, that all too familiar pale green skin that Mira and Galadriel had seen back then.
The sudden loud screech followed by a deep roar that shook the entire city, rubble rolling down. Windows cracking and shattering. It came from the ocean, something that only the legends spoke of. Something that haunted the waters, this ocean from the time of its birth. Something that is bound to bring chaos and tear the world apart. "Wh.. What the actual fuck?! What is that thing doing here?! That damned beast, the incarnate of calamity itself, Hulhrak. What is it doing here?!" The person choked out, their voice shaking, coming to a high pitched squeal. "I.. I cannot deal with that! Don't ever show yourself before me ever again, I mean it, filth!" The person turned in a swift maneuver, their hood falling right back over their head as they fled as quick as they could. Even Mira came to a stop at the sound, her eyes focused towards where the ocean should be. Mira rushed towards Galadriel, grabbing her and rushing towards the docks. Galadriel was practically being dragged along, her body had locked up the sound, even if she had never seen it nor read about it anywhere. Just the pure presence was enough to shatter any resolve she had ever built.
By the time they had arrived at the docks, Lysander was standing by them like he had earlier. But his gaze was hard, distant. "Where is it!? Where is that thing?!" Mira was asking in panic, she didn't even know why she was so desperate to know. Lysander just shook his head. "It left just as it had surfaced for a moment, diving back into the endless depths of the ocean. Whatever reason it had for arriving, was gone." Mira swallowed what felt like a lump, a part of her wanted to breathe a sigh of relief, another was almost..
"Mira?"
Galadriel's faint voice came from behind her, it was strained, shaking and worst of all on the verge of erupting into a barrage of yelling. "You.. What is up with you? You just went right back in, your wounds gone, you.. And what was all about those water attacks? Mira, answer me! And then.. And then this.. Thing appears! And you rush straight to it! What if it was still there.. You.. You know something, don't you, Mira? Stop looking at me like that and answer me! Don't just stay quiet!"
Mira slowly opened her mouth, her words hanging in her throat, as if they were lodged there. She only gave out a small grumble, her mouth closing. She couldn't look Galadriel in the eyes. "I don't know.." Mira finally murmured out, her voice a quiet whisper. "I just.. I wasn't thinking straight."
Is it okay for me to tell her this?
Is it okay for me to pry like this?
I'm afraid.
I'm worried.
Believe my lies just this once.
Stop telling me lies for once.
I'm sorry.
