She started the engine and pulled onto the road.
Because of Alvin's heavy blood loss, he had been sent to the nearest hospital. But Gilbert was at an eye hospital. Without traffic, she could make the trip between the two in twenty minutes.
She had to make it back in time.
The sky was dark and drizzling, and the already slow road became jammed halfway through.
Her anxiety spiked.

She honked repeatedly, but instead of speeding things up, it attracted a traffic officer. She could only swallow her frustration.
