"It's fine, Iris. I understand your concerns. Even though no one in the Carter family worked in the special forces, a couple of my relatives did. Some have even died in the line of duty. I understand the dangerous nature of Shawn's mission. Regardless, Yvonne has made her own choice in marrying him. I will always respect her choice and treat Shawn as my own son." Serena gave Iris an assured look.
Extremely impressed by Serena's open-mindedness, Iris gave her a thumbs-up. "Now I realize why Yvonne is so easy-going. She got it from you, Serena."
"Well, that's what everyone says."
"Zoey has got an eye for choosing great friends," Iris added.
"Most women will usually brag about their husbands or sons. But you're different, Iris. You brag about your daughter-in -law." Serena poked fun at Iris. Nonetheless, she felt happy for Zoey to have such an understanding mother-in-law.
