Agnes's eyes reddened. Clasping Harris's hand, she said chokingly, "Harris, help me. I can't just leave like this. I still want to acknowledge Zoey as my daughter."
She still wanted both Zoey and Jeanette as her daughters.
Before Harris could respond, the bodyguard continued, "This way please, Mrs. Miller."
"Let's go Mom, we will think of a solution when we get home," Harris advised her again.
He continued, "Mr. Yancey is still angry. The more you try to explain yourself, the more he will see it as mere excuses. It'd just be useless."
"But Zoey..."
"Mom, just trust me this time, alright?"
"...Okay." Agnes had no choice but to comply.
"Charles, let's go."
Harris took a look at Charles whose eyes were still fixated on Zoey.
Charles waved and said, "Go ahead, Harris. I'll stay back to get to know Zoey a little better."
Hearing that, Harris's eyes flickered slightly as a smile flashed across his face.
