"What do you mean by that?" Watt asked, following her words.
"Nothing but work," Summer Sutton replied dismissively.
"Is that so? Nothing but work?" Watt asked, testing the waters.
His gaze on her was bright, as if expecting something.
He wanted to know if, during the time she was abroad, she thought about him just as he did about her.
Summer actually guessed the meaning behind his words but didn't give him the answer he wanted.
"Nothing," she replied lightly with two words, closing her eyes.
"I see," Watt said, his tone seemingly a bit disappointed.
Summer ignored him, continuing to sleep with her eyes closed.
Just as she was falling asleep, Watt suddenly asked out of the blue, "Summer, tell me, is any part of the reason you came back because of me?"
He just wanted to know this; it was important to him. If even a small part was because of him, then his days of waiting weren't in vain.
The room was silent, and Summer didn't respond to his question.
