"Claudie?" Kathleen whispered the name she heard. However, she prioritized slipping into the old dress that had been given to her. It was better to have old clothes than meet more wolf-men in nothing but undergarments. The thick fabric also gave her warmth, helping her body withstand the cold.
The wolf with her only lay on his belly. His head would whip around as if tailing the direction the scent was coming from. However, he remained quiet and calm, as if he knew Claudie would find him instead. He would even giggle as he pawed at his sewing tools as if thinking of how to tell a story.
Kathleen only stared at the scrawny wolf. A slight pang came to her heart as she continued watching. Why did it feel like this wolf was more human than a wild animal?
A freezing draft soon surged in the small hollow cave. The wolf flinched and sat up as if an alert guard. He even made Kathleen gasp in his sudden action.
