"Which of us?" Kathleen shuddered and looked around the dark cave. "I have to save them… If they are here, I have to save them all…"
Claude faced her properly and stared at the shaking woman. A deep breath escaped from his lips, but it was so soft that only he heard it leave. His eyes twitched, and his fingers curled. He slowly grew his claws, but his hands shook as if he was trying to stop them from growing instead.
"You traveled a few days through rain and snow just to find her alive in my little jail…" A familiar voice flitted in, but it came from the entrance instead. The white wolf walked in. "Claude, if you're only going to kill her, you should have just asked me to tear her body open. Humans discard organs when they bury the dead. Might as well eat them all up here."
"I want to deliver a daughter to her mother, but I also want to deliver killers to a widowed wolf." Claude turned to the white wolf waltzing to his side. "What should I do?"
