When people said their life flashed before their eyes, I used to think it was just one of those dramatic things people said after surviving something terrible.
For the first time in my life, I understood exactly what it meant.
My eyes fluttered open slowly.
Everything was blurry at first. Shapes. Shadows. Fragments of light.
My eyelashes felt heavy, sticking together as I blinked repeatedly, struggling to focus.
A dull ache throbbed at the side of my head.
Where...
Where was I?
The last thing I remembered was the hotel.
The competition.
Brandon.
Ashley.
Raven standing by the door.
Then...
Nothing.
I tried to raise a hand to rub my eyes but my movement stopped abruptly. Something was holding me back.
My breath caught sharply. I looked down by my side and saw Ropes.
Thick ropes were wrapped tightly around my wrists, binding them behind my back.
My eyes flew open fully. Panic exploded through me instantly.
