Reyes glared at him, then at me, then turned and stormed out.
I stood there, breathing hard, heart pounding.
Katya appeared a moment later, her expression unreadable. "What the hell just happened?"
"I canceled the deal."
Her eyes widened. "You what?"
"He was lying. The weapons were going to a terrorist group."
"So?" Her voice was sharp. "That's not your concern, Kairen. You sign the deal. You take the money. You move on. Empathy isn't our concern."
"I'm not doing that."
She grabbed my arm, her grip tight. "You just cost your father millions. Do you understand that?"
"I don't care."
"You should. He's not going to let you get away with this."
I yanked my arm free and walked away.
She was right.
