But reality remained cruel. After exhausting all his methods, Blaine was left panting heavily. The worst part was that none of it worked—not even a little. There wasn't a single explosion. The darkness below was like a glutton with its mouth wide open, swallowing every attack Blaine threw at it. Not even a ripple remained, not even a sound. Everything simply vanished without a trace.
