Raven and Alara finally reached the third floor, as their boots echoed softly on the cracked marble of the stairs as they arrived in the narrow corridor before the barricaded entryway. In front of them, a mountain of chairs, desks, and tall bookshelves were jammed together in front of the entrance, forming a makeshift barricade that sealed off the top floor. Raven backed up two steps, raising an eyebrow in question at Alara's actions, As Alara pulled out a grenade from the system space, saying,
"Fire in the hole," Alara pulled the pin and threw the grenade at the wooden barricade.
Alara jumped back to Raven's side as the two of them ducked behind a nearby pillar. BOOM. The explosion ripped through the entrance, blowing apart wood, paper, and steel. A wave of dust and shredded paper pages flew outwards, flying around them like confetti during Alara's princess party spectacular that Raven has to attend because it's mandatory as her girlfriend and future wife.
Raven immediately reached into her system space and tossed Alara a pink tactical assault helmet. "This helmet has thermal heat vision equipped on it. Alara you remember how to use it right? You will need the air filters on it for what comes next."
Raven put on her own black assault helmet, the visor hud dispaly coming to life in front of her eyes. Then, from her system storage, Raven pulled out two gas canister grenades they are her own homemade brew of tear gas mixed with a smoke grenade. With a swing of her wrist, she tossed them up through the doorway. As trails of black smoke quickly spread out from them.
Raven and Alara raised their pink AK-203s as the first hail of blind gunfire erupted from the room ahead of them aimed at them. Bullets tore through the black smoke, hitting nearby walls and impacting an overturned desk that they used for cover upon entery into the room. A glowing barrier appeared around Raven as her kinetic magnetic shielding stopped bullets as they hit her shoulder and arm.
Inside the smoke, Raven activated her thermal imaging. As orange red silhouettes we outlined, hideing behind a bookshelf about fifteen feet ahead of her. Two Raiders, masked in looted SWAT gear, were hiding behind the bookshelf for cover. Their rifles fired wildly in Raven's direction as gas stung their eyes beneath their SWAT helmets.
Raven raised her rifle, marking her targets as she fired off two rounds of burst fire, unleashing three shots with each burst of gunfire. The first bullet struck the left Raider's helmet. The second hit the same spot, weakening the structural integrity of the helment. The third round hit the same spot three times, cracking the helmet like an eggshell, penitrating into the man's skull. He fell to the ground as dead from his brains being made into swiss cheese.
The second Raider turned his head in horror, only to meet the same fate. As three bullets hit his helment in the same way, killing him on impact.
As their two bodies hit the floor. Blood flew across a pile of fallen books, making a fashionable art statement.
Raven activated her radio, saying to Alara. "Three shots to the same spot on a standard issue SWAT team helmet will compromise the structural integrity of it cracking the helmet like an egg. Remember that."
"That's some marksman-level shooting, Raven," Alara replied. "Only you would come up with something so insane and then actually give me a lesson on it."
The smoke continued to spread as Raven scanned for the remaining enemy heat signatures. "That leaves three of them. The heavily armed ones. Stay alert."
A small metal ball suddenly flew through the smoke towards their direction.
Without thinking, Raven swung her rifle barrel like a bat. CLANK. She struck the grenade midair, knocking it away from them. Three seconds later, BOOM. An explosion echoed out not far from their position.
Alara turned toward Raven, surprised. "Did you just…?"
Raven adjusted her grip on her rifle as she said "A rifle's gun barrel works just fine as a bat when needed. Let's move. We can't stay here, or we will die."
