Adam Carter laid on the floor, coughing in the soot filled air as the library burned around them.
"Raven Salvatore!" he said, scrambling onto his knees and forcing a pitiful bow. "You've come to save me from those maniacs outside, right? Those lunatics killed my whole crew! Did your father send you to help me? Please help me, Raven, if you didn't come to save me, I don't know what I would do all of my Red Blood Raiders are gone did you kill the intruders on your way in here!"
Raven looked down at Adam with a look of disgust on her face. Her boot flew out, slamming into his face, sending Adam flying. Adam yelped, falling onto his back as blood sprayed out from his nose.
"Cut out the shit, Adam," Raven said. "You and I both know I'm the one who killed them. Every single one. You let your men abuse me. You let them grope me when I was powerless to stop them. Now I'm here for revenge."
Adam ground his teeth in anger, pushing himself up, wiping the blood from his face across his denim sleeve. His sycophantic expression melted away, revealing the petty, man beneath.
"Raven you little bitch. Do you really think your father William will let you do anything to me? I'm one of his biggest trading partners! Without me, he is nothing."
The butt of Alara's rifle smaked into Adam's face before he could say another word. The sound of bone snapping was heard as Adam stumbled again, both hands covering his now broken nose.
Adam glared at Alara and said to her.
"You broke my fucking nose little bitch" he screamed, eyes beginning to water from the pain. "I will kill you, both of you! William won't save you this time Raven! I should have taken you out years ago like your brother wanted me to!"
Raven lifted her Desert Eagle and shot him in the kneecap. A very effective and painful place to shoot someone for maximum crippling damage and pain.
BANG!
Adam screamed in pain and fell onto the floor, grabbing his ruined leg, trembling with anger.
"You've said and done a lot of bad things in your miserable life, Adam Carter," Raven said, walking slowly towards him. "But the worst was thinking you could threaten my future wife and get away with it."
Blood dripped from Adam's lips as he sneered at Raven and said. "So what? Shoot me again. I don't care. Epsilon base is already hunting you. Your dad ratted you out to them. They know about your technology now. You're dead either way."
Raven's eyes narrowed. Her voice dropping to a whisper as she said. "Then I'll turn another base against them. Epsilon base is not the only power in New York. Corporate bases, raider warlords, civilians bases everyone has a price. And I know how to pay them. Greed always wins over positive ideals."
Adam stared up at Raven, stunned into silence for a moment before his smug mask of defiance returned. "You'll never—"
"Shut up," Raven yelled.
She crouched down, holding her wounded arm steady. Her skin moved faintly, and from within the bleeding wound on her arm, something moved. Slowly, a green vine, pulsing with life crawled out of Raven's body like a docile little snake.
Alara watched the vine in silence.
"Meet my little parasitic friend," Raven said softly. "My Lianas vines don't get out much. But I think you deserve some special treatment."
Adam's eyes widened in shock as he asked in panic. "What the fuck is that?"
"This," Raven said, moving her head slightly, "is going to crawl into your body and devour you from the inside out. Every drop of your vitality. Your soul, your strength, your life force all of it will become mine."
The vine crawled towards Adam, its surface slimy like wet moss. He tried to move away, clawing at the floor, but his leg gave out. As he screamed in protest.
"Get it away from me!"
He opened his mouth to scream again, and the vine jumped forward, forcing itself down his throat. He tried to bite down on it, but his teeth bounced uselessly over the vines' unbreakable skin. Muffled choking sounds echoed from his mouth as the vine dug deeper into his body, as it sprouted small web like veins from the main vine that began to dig into every corner of Adam's body. The small capillary like vine roots curled around his brain and heart and fed on the life essence inside Adam's body. At the same time, they sucked up all of the blood and nutrients in his body as well.
Adam's entire body began to seize. His limbs shook. His eyes rolled back. Veins bulged across his face and neck, darkening to black. His screams became unintelligible, just raw agony as his body shriveled up to a dry husk in front of them.
Raven stood motionless, watching.
Finally, the vine crawled back out of Adam's mouth, covered with his blood and essence. The vine retreated back into to Raven's arm, re-entering her body without a trace.
Raven inhaled happily, feeling a weight lift off her heart as she successfully achieved her first major goal in this life besides Alara.
