Raven raised her left arm in protection against the wave of wood debris flying at her, splinters of wood stabbed deep into her burned flesh. Several jagged wood splinters buried themselves into her forearm and elbow. Some to the bone. Raven's focus remained fixated on shielding Alara, whose eyes moved down to the damage on Raven's arn with a look of concern.
They took cover behind a metal workstation in the center of the third floor room as they dove for cover behind it. Raven sent her AK-203 back into the system space. With her injured arm hanging limp and unusable she could not use it for now, she summoned her her beloved pink Desert Eagle, polished in rose quartz and engraved with sapphires that spelled out two words she held close: Princess Pride.
A sharp woosh echoed through the smoke. Raven moved her head up to look. Another RPG was just fired off.
Raising her Desert Eagle with her good left arm, she tracked the heat signature through the thermal vision of her helmet and fired at the missile. The .50 caliber round collided mid-air with the incoming rocket. The resulting explosion echoed like thunder, shattering what few intact windows remained on this floor of the library. Raven ducked down just in time as a concussive impact wave slammed into the workstation.
To Raven's right, Alara raised her rifle. Through the smoke, she spotted the man who fired the RPG reloading behind a column of burning shelves. Her eyes narrowed. Alara took aim with her rifle and fired off a single shot. The bullet struck the warhead just as the man put it into the launcher. The explosion ripped tore through his body. His upper torso vanished in the explosion as fire and gore flew everywhere, his lower body falling to the ground.
Raven set her Desert Eagle down on the floor beside her and bit the inside of her cheek as she pulled the embedded splinters in her right arm out, one by one. Blood poured down her arm, pooling by her fingers. Pain washed through body in waves. She pushed it aside, letting the stored energy from the Liana's vines began to stir inside her body. Slowly starting to heal her arm from the damage it sustained.
Raven picked her Desert Eagle back up and gave Alara a short nod to continue.
Together, they ran through the wreckage of the third floor towards the far end of the room.
The last raider stood directly in front of the head librarian's office, his chest wrapped in a belt of grenades, his eyes wild with malice and glee.
Raven's mental command was instantaneous as she figured out how to deal with him.
Her final drone, still hidden with optical camouflage, nose dived strait through the smoke towards the man. It slammed into the man's sternum with brutal force. He staggered back, caught off-balance, as he flew backwards into the air.
Raven raised her Desert Eagle and pulled the trigger as she aimed at the mans grenade belt.
The bullet struck one of the grenades, and then he went boom along with the wall.
The resulting explosion blew out the door and wall behind him and threw both the drone and raider through it. The fireball consumed both of them instantly. RIP drone 1 & 2
Raven and Alara arrived a moment later.
Guns raised, eyes looking forward, they stepped inside, looking at the room.
Adam Carter was already on his knees.
The man was a scrawny mess, wearing a half-buttoned designer shirt stained in sweat and soot. His brown hair comb-over was plastered to his forehead, and his pathetic, watery eyes grew impossibly wide when he saw Raven. He had no weapon in his hands.
He flung himself onto the floor in a pitiful dogeza pose arms extended, forehead pressed onto the ground as he said.
"Please, please, don't kill me!"
