As the preparations for the upcoming battle continued, Lucen went to sleep, and he felt it once more that he was about to dream about those ring owners.
He saw a man whose body was stained with blood, his weapon broken, and on the ground, the bodies of the dead. In front of the man were hundreds of people who seemed to be enemies.
The man stood before the ruins of a gate. Behind him, smoke rose from collapsed houses, and a torn banner lay beneath the body of a woman in armor.
His eyes remained on her. One of her hands still gripped the cloth. Several arrows had pierced her back.
"You said you would let them leave." His voice was hoarse. Blood ran down his chin as he spoke.
A mounted commander watched him from behind a line of shields. "I would have honored that agreement, but those of higher status than I want all of them dead; that includes you as well."
