Craig never got to finish the sentence.
Merlina surged forward and kissed him, hard and urgent, her hands flying to his face, fingers sliding into his hair, silencing the rest of his question.
For a second he was stunned, lips parted under hers, the ring still pinched between his fingers. Then he kissed her back just as fiercely, the velvet box pressing into her ribs.
When they broke apart, both breathing like they'd run a mile, Craig let out a ragged laugh against her lips.
"You didn't even let me finish," he rasped, voice wrecked. "You haven't even said yes."
Merlina's eyes glistened, tears clinging to her lashes, her smile so wide it hurt. "Yes," she said, the word bursting out of her like champagne. "Yes, yes, of course yes, a thousand times yes—"
Craig's exhale shuddered out of him. His forehead dropped to hers for a second, steadying himself.
