After listening to this DND concept, Lilis suddenly thought about her own life.
From first encountering the Supreme God, to believing in Him and becoming His priestess, all the way to now joining this rookie adventurer party, it was probably all decided by the roll of a god's dice.
Even the lives of her companions sitting across from her were likely determined by that same divine roll.
From the party leader being late because he saw the blacksmith's newly forged sword, to only managing to pick up a goblin-slaying quest at the Adventurer's Guild... every little thing came down to the whim of a god's dice.
This couldn't help but make Lilis question her existence even more.
[Artemis]: The gods in that world are so bored?! They actually decide everyone's fate that way?!"
[Raiden Ei]: It's normal. For gods like that, they probably see it all as nothing more than a board game.
[Athena]: But for mortals, their entire destiny rests on the roll of a die… that is somewhat frivolous, after all.
[Lilis]: I'm seriously starting to doubt my whole life now!
[Marika]: What's there to be afraid of?! From the moment you joined this chat, the dice that subtly influenced you lost their control. As long as you grow stronger, even a god won't be able to dictate your fate!
[Dongfang Huaizhu]: Queen Marika certainly has the right to speak on this. She's also striving to break free from the schemes of controlling gods!
Hearing this, the fear on Lilis's face eased somewhat.
That's right. Just as Marika said, now that she was part of this chat group, didn't that mean she had already escaped the influence of the god's dice?
The god's dice probably didn't have a "chat group" option!
With that thought, Lilis's heart suddenly felt much brighter.
Meanwhile, her teammates had finished their discussion and worked out the task assignments.
"Lilis? Lilis!"
Her teammates' calls pulled her attention back from the chat.
She blinked, a hint of apology on her face.
"Sorry, I was spacing out for a moment."
"No problem, we've got it all planned!"
"For the mission, I, as the Warrior leader, and the Ranger will enter the goblin nest to clear it out."
"You guys just provide backup from the outside!"
The party leader was a somewhat youthful-looking boy, wearing fairly simple armor.
The archer was a silent, reserved elf woman (Ranger) who gave a slight nod at the leader's arrangement.
The remaining two teammates were a Human Wizard and a Lizardman Monk. They both nodded in agreement with the plan.
Then, everyone turned their gaze to Lilis.
Upon hearing the plan, Lilis was about to nod when a thought suddenly struck her.
She shook her head and said softly, "Won't that be too risky? If only the two of you go?"
"They're just goblins! I could probably handle them all by myself!" The Warrior confidently thumped his chest. "So having two of us is actually playing it safe!"
Had this been the old Lilis, she might have believed him. But now, knowing that everything could be twisted by the roll of a god's dice, nothing felt certain anymore.
While the leader was more than capable of dealing with goblins... in this world, everything hinged on a dice roll! What if, during the fight, his roll was disastrously low, or the goblins' roll was unnaturally high? Their whole party could be wiped out.
The thought made the fear she'd just suppressed begin to rise again.
"Lilis, what's wrong today? You seem a bit out of it?" the Warrior asked, puzzled.
"If you're tired, maybe you should just skip today and rest. Don't worry about healing—against a few goblins, we shouldn't even get hurt." He confidently cracked his knuckles.
The other members agreed. Against goblins, they all felt injuries were unlikely, so the priestess's healing wouldn't be needed anyway. It was practically a day off for her.
But hearing this only made Lilis's unease grow stronger.
"No, I'm not tired," Lilis shook her head, declining the offer to rest. "I just think we should be cautious, even against goblins. After all..."
Here, she hesitated and trailed off. The matter of the divine dice—the more she thought about it, the more she felt bringing it up would sound unbelievable and be hard to explain.
"Anyway, I think we should have a solid plan, do some proper scouting, and understand the enemy nest's situation. Rushing in blindly will only lead to danger!"
Lilis's words left her four teammates exchanging puzzled looks.
They couldn't understand why facing something as weak as goblins had her so on edge, to the point of wanting to formulate a tactical plan.
This was practically unheard of.
In the entire adventuring world, this would be considered a novelty.
If word got out to their peers afterwards, they'd surely be laughed at.
An Iron-ranked party, needing tactics to deal with goblins? That would be utterly embarrassing.
Of course, the fact that their Iron-ranked party had even taken a goblin subjugation quest was already somewhat embarrassing in itself. Adding formal tactics to the mix might just seal their fate as lifelong laughingstocks.
With this thought, the leader decisively rejected Lilis's suggestion.
"There's no need for that, Lilis! We're an Iron-ranked party now. Dealing with weaklings like goblins doesn't require tactics. That stuff is for Porcelain rookies!"
With that, the leader slapped the table, making his final decision.
"Alright, it's settled then! Lilis, you guys just need to provide backup from outside. Everyone, go rest for a bit now and get your gear in order. We'll meet back here in two hours."
With that, everyone dispersed, leaving Lilis no chance to speak further.
Hearing their reckless confidence, Lilis could only sigh helplessly.
"Sigh... What am I to do? That impulsive decision from the leader just now... it must also be a result of the god's dice roll."
The thought made the unease in her heart grow even stronger.
The god's dice made everything terribly uncertain, and that uncertainty was filled with terrifying unknowns. While she might have escaped the dice's control, her teammates, the people around her, had not. They were still under its sway.
This meant that even she could be indirectly affected. That was unacceptable to her.
She had to find a way to break this deadlock, a way to mitigate the potential risks facing her and her teammates. After some thought, Lilis's focus quickly turned to the chat group.
"Since the chat group gave me an option outside the dice's roll... then this must be my hope."
Thinking this, she immediately took action, posting a message in the chat to inform the other members about what was happening.
