After Face Mother confirmed it, there was no longer any doubt — Ursa was indeed Noriko. And now, Noren finally confessed that he was Ursa's childhood sweetheart, Ikem.
After Ursa left him back then, Ikem had been devastated.
The townspeople whispered about his misfortune, and in that period of despair, he remembered the old tale of the Forget-Worry Valley spirit. So he went there, desperate for a miracle.
Fortunately for him, the miracle came.
With Face Mother's help, Ikem abandoned his past, gained a new face and a new identity, and successfully escaped the soldiers Ozai had sent to kill him. He planned to start life anew.
He went to a distant city, made new friends, tried to find new love. He succeeded in everything except the last part.
He could never forget Ursa.
Eventually, he returned to Hira Town disguised as an outsider, rejoined the familiar theater troupe, and resigned himself to spending the rest of his life silently guarding the woman he loved but could no longer have.
"Even now, I still can't believe Ursa appeared before me again that day," Ikem said with emotion.
He hadn't been able to hold it in. He confessed everything to her — the truth about himself, his past, everything.
They reconciled, and at that moment, he swore to the heavens that he would never let anyone separate them again.
"After that, Ursa told me what she'd been through all these years. When I realized how much danger she was in, I suggested she also seek help from Face Mother. She agreed."
Ikem said the days they spent in Forget-Worry Valley — living simply, helping and comforting each other — were the happiest days of his life.
During that time they shared many things, including the fact that Ursa had two children: Zuko and Azula.
"She also mentioned you, Kahn."
"Me?" Kahn was genuinely shocked. He had only met her once.
Ikem nodded, "She said you're a very good friend to her children, and she believes you can influence them in a positive way.
You once said you were entrusted by a friend to search for her. That friend must've been Zuko and Azula, right?"
"Yes," Kahn replied.
He hadn't expected Ursa to hold him in such high regard. It left him a little flustered — but also relieved. At least he hadn't failed her expectations.
"Ursa was right. They really did make a great friend." Ikem's voice grew complicated.
To take on something this dangerous for the sake of friendship, and to achieve so much — Kahn deserved that praise.
But now that his carefully protected secret had been exposed, Ikem felt powerless.
Back to the point.
For Ursa, happy memories from her time in the palace were few.
Most of her life had been filled with fear and suffering. Ozai had become a permanent psychological shadow she could never escape.
So in the end, when she stood before Face Mother, she not only changed her appearance — she chose to erase her memories.
The current Ursa only remembered being Noriko, a woman who married into town from elsewhere. She remembered nothing else.
"Changed her memories, huh…"
After hearing everything, Kahn's head began to ache.
He didn't care about the messy drama — he'd already decided not to meddle in these personal matters. But this memory problem was a major obstacle.
After all, one of the reasons they were searching for Ursa was to uncover the truth behind Ozai's rise to power.
Ursa's memories were the key to that truth — and now they were gone.
Kahn couldn't help grumbling internally at Face Mother.
Wasn't she supposed to grant just one wish per person?
Why did Ursa get both a new face and new memories?
Where was the consistency?
Sigh.
After confessing everything, Ikem exhaled deeply.
"If possible, I just want to live peacefully with Ursa, away from disputes and danger. But… that seems impossible now."
"…Sorry."
"It's fine. I already prepared myself for the worst. At least you found Ursa before Ozai did." Ikem let out a bitter smile.
Then his expression hardened, and he asked seriously.
"But since we're already here… I want to know your real purpose. Why do you want to find Ursa?"
Kahn didn't answer immediately.
Their plan was extremely dangerous — something he couldn't reveal lightly.
But now Ursa was the center of everything. And Ikem, as her husband, couldn't be kept in the dark.
Even more importantly, Ikem had also been targeted for assassination by Ozai.
When it came to opposing Ozai, they were naturally on the same side. There was no reason for Ikem to betray them.
After considering everything, Kahn finally said, "Zuko and Azula miss her. And… we want to uncover the truth about the night Ozai seized power."
"What— You dare attempt something like that!?" Even though Ikem thought he was mentally prepared, hearing Kahn's explanation made him gasp in horror.
Overthrowing Ozai's rule?
That wasn't just dangerous — it was insane.
The thought alone made his heart tremble.
His fear triggered instinctive rejection. He recoiled from the idea, unable to accept it.
"No… no, that's impossible!" He shook his head repeatedly.
"I'm sorry, but I can't cooperate with your plan. It's too dangerous! I can't let Ursa be dragged into danger again. We just want a quiet life."
His voice trembled, and then he roared:
"If you want to take Ursa away, you'll have to step over my dead body first!"
Kahn's expression darkened, his tone suddenly sharp.
"Calm. Down. If I really wanted to take Ursa by force, I wouldn't be standing here talking to you — and you definitely couldn't stop me.
I came here to discuss this seriously. I'm asking for your thoughts. I want us to reach a consensus."
The oppressive aura Kahn released made Ikem freeze.
After his panic faded, Ikem slumped down, covering his face with his hands.
"I'm sorry… I just… I just hate myself."
"I'm too weak. I hate myself. I couldn't protect Ursa before… and I still can't protect her now."
A man breaks in silence — and when he finally breaks, it is sudden and complete.
Soft sobs escaped between his fingers.
Kahn sighed.
